Hi Esha-Ness. I think you and I are working our way through the vast types of chemo and hormone therapy avaliable to us. But…there’s a few more yet!
I started Eribulin in early April and have felt absolutely fine with it. I also have steroid tablets to take with it, Dexamethasone, which to be polite gives me an upset tum for a day… But other than that I wouldn’t know I am on any chemo. It’s a tiny amout of liquid ( I have 1930micrograms) and it takes between 2 and 5 minutes to get into you. I have a picc line so I am just plugged in and away we go. I have had hair thinning, it was fairly short anyway after my piclitaxol.
Sadly this expensive drug doesn’t come with a guarentee, but…fingers and toes crossed it will stabilise your bone and lung mets for you. Do you have 3 monthly scans?
Good luck with it, and keep in touch. laura xxxxx
Hi Laura
Thanks for message and yes let’s just hope that side effects are manageable like they have been for you. Will let you know How I get on.
Good luck with the treatment. I have had cycle one (2 doses). This week is my chemo free week. At the moment I still have my hair, which is very short anyway. I lost it with the taxol chemo. I have not had a good couple of weeks and I am not entirely sure it is the chemo. I have had 2 really bad bouts of diarrohoea. One of them being today. So for me its take it easy today. I hope we all have a good response to this drug. Keep in touch and let us know how you get on.

Hi Laura , thanks , I am really hoping this drug works for me. I am working and want to carry On working. I have done taxol , epirubicen , and xeloda. I would love some good news. What are the side effects of this drug , could I keep my hair? , I am 44 , 45 in a few weeks. I had breast cancer in 2008 , had Fec and radiation. Then last year a tumour was discovered in my chest wall, I have just had that removed as nothing worked on it. I have lung mets.

Morning Louise, Good for wanting to keep working-a positive “can do” attitude keeps us going through all this horrible stuff. I was diagnosed with secondaries at initial diagnosis, so have had…FAC, Piclitaxol, Capcetamine and now Eribulin. I have not lost my hair, it will thin out though…so no scarves or wigs! However I have ridiculously thick hair, I can imagine that if you have very thin and fine hair you may notice the loss more.
Elaine, I hope your tum settled down soon, it’s not pleaseant is it. My Onc told me that it was the steroids ( Dexamethasone) which uposet my tum. From cycle 4 I’ve had no problem…
Hope you all have a lovely day - I have two toddlers coming for lunch-argh!!!
Love to you all, Laura xxxxx
