Hi I had a Latissimus Dorsi reconstruction in 207 with an implant. The implant is now causing problems and the surgeon says that he will remove the implant and can either replace it with a new one or he can use Lipo filling from my own fat stores.
I have decided to go with the lipo filling as I do not want the possibility of another implant having to be replaced at a later date and would like to hear from anyone who has had lipo filling instead of an implant.
I have no idea of the soreness involved with lipo filling. I am used to normal op pain but wondered what problems people may have had with lipo filling so that I can be prepared.
There is a recent thread on here from 4/2/15 - I did a reply on this one. It would seem a bit on a tall order to completely lipofill a complete breast though, but obviously your back muscle will still be in place?. Your body quite often re-absorbs the fat I am afraid. Sorry to hear your Implant is causing you problems. Have a read of the thread and see what you think. I found the lipofill bruising very, very painful indeed. But I think if you are prepared for this it should be fine, just remember that everyone reacts differently.
Hi just wondering how you got on with your surgery I’ve having surgery a week today got to make my choice
in the next few days I’ve been given the choice of LD flap with implant or LD flap with lipo suction from my tummy . It’s such a big decision been told the lipo option is quite a new procedure as there is not much info on it .
I am still waiting as mine was delayed. Will know my fate in December. Good luck with your decision. I originally had am LD flap with implant and that wss good but the implant needs renewing so am now going for the lipo option
Thanks for replying what’s made you go for lipo ? I was told by the nurse after lipo it’s a bit sore and bruised for a few days you have to wear support briefs like spanks ? she said it may be a couple of procedures to get me to my size . Just want it done now not long my lovely friends and family are doing me a pre op party sat lol planing a rota who’s going to be doing what when I come out of hospital . Been told by my surgeon this is the latest of reconstruction they only used lipo to fill in the past . I going to go with the lipo option as like u said its how long the implant last s . Xxx
Going for lipo because I do not want to have another implant which will have to be replaced again. The surgeon said lipo will be better for me now as they do not like using implants.
