liver secondaries

Thank you for your replies, It does help when so many ladies are positive even when going through tough times. I am sure I will be able to cope (I did last time) but it has come as such a shock after 10 years to find its back and in the Liver. I think I will be having the Taxol but need to ask my onc why when he has mentioned Xeloda and says they are both the same he wants to use Taxol first. Losing my hair again is a big thing but I suppose in the scheme of things it is small.
I will write again after seeing my onc.
Thanks
Loopyjack

Good luck loopyjack - I was in the same situation as you, 10 years of remission and then in bones and liver. I have the BRCA2 gene though and I wonder whether it’s always been on the cards for me and the fact that I was on Tamoxifen for 10 years slowed it down? Who knows.

I’m on Xeloda but they started me off on paclitaxol back in 2004 when I was re-diagnosed and have been on Xeloda since 2006.

I know what you mean about losing your hair having lost mine twice - the only way I get my head round that is that at least it’ll grow back compared to those who have aloepecia and theirs will never grow back.

Take care.

The one good thing with Xeloda is that you don’t lose your hair!

Pinkdove,

Can I ask you (sorry if you have posted before on this) how did you find out you had the brca2 gene? I have a very small family group - so no one would be interested based on number of relatives - but I do wonder if I have it…

Hi Loopyjack,
I’ve got spread to my liver too.My first Chemo was Taxotere, now I’m on Xeloda. The Tax shrunk my liver tumour down a bit but not my lymph and breast tumour,as they continued to grow. The Xeloda has now shrunk both of these quite dramatically.
