Lobular cancer

I have been diaganosed withLobular cancer of my left breast, and have had
a masectomy and removal of my lymph nodes. I am awaiting my test results
and realise everyone is differnt but I am wondering what the chances of me
having chemo/radiotherapy will be.

Hi Starsky,
Sorry you had to join us here, hope you’re doing ok.
Whether you’ll need chemo and/or rads will largely depend on how big the tumour was, the grade, the number of lymph nodes affected (if any), ER, PR and HER2 status and other factors like your age.
When do you go back for your results?
Keep in touch.

Hi Starsky

As skimum says, so sorry you have had to join this club. But you will find so much support and friendship on here. Skimum is right but broadly speaking one of the key things is if you nodes are affected and the size of the lump. I had small lump but nodes affected so got chemo and rads but when they didnt know about nodes they were talking just rads. Close friend had larger lump but no nodes affected and she got chemo and rads but different type to me.

At the moment you are going through the worst bit waiting for results. Anyone on here will tell you that part is so hard.

Good Luck and let us know when your results are due.

Hello Starsky.

I also had lobular left breast mast. As with a lot of us lobular girlies, my lump was large so I pretty much knew I would have chemo from the offset (although I resisted the thouht until after my results came through). I had a couple of nodes affected so also will have rads, which I am fine with, no worries on that score. Tamoxifen also on the menu as mine was ER & PR+

I was fine waiting for the results - until I knew they had arrived, then I kind of crumbled again and felt I had come so far after surgery only to be knocked back again and back in that dark hole again. But that only lasted a couple of days, and I started to accept what i had ahead (as you will too).

Keep us infomed
