Hi I regularly read the forums and they have given me great support -although l rarely post.
I thought I should share the workshop I went to on Tuesday as it was a real pick me up and I wanted to say that if you get the chance to go on one take it. It was lovely to be in a small group of people all going through similar treatment but to concentrate on how to look good. Skin care and make up tips and the chance to have a go. Not to mention the amazing goody bag that you get to take away!
if you are worried about going don’t be completely non threatening, very relaxed and a good laugh… I have also changed the way I put on my eye make up and my husband tells me it looks really great.
thank you to the charity that runs it and the volunteers that support it - It was fab
it was run at our local Macmillan centre but is at various venues across the uk called look good feel better
Hi KJ1, I’m so pleased you loved this session. I do agree with you that it’s a real boost, and just when we need it. The charity that supports these sessions is a wonderful one. Long may it continue. X
I went on a look good feel better session last week at the Macmillan Unit at my hospital and it was fabulous. There were 9 patients and 6 Beauticians-we all had a great time-lots of really great advice and practical help with make up and hair/scalp care. How to make you feel like you still had some control over what you were going through-how to give yourself a little bit of confidence-we got fabulous goody bags full of really great products. Also because the hair loss was the biggest beauty issue, there was lots of great advice about caring for your scalp-and your hair when it starts to grow back.
It was a real boost and a lovely afternoon - well worth going and highly recommended-Anyone who gets the chance should definitely go and join in !!
Sending you all love and hugs X
