its been a while since i was on the forum…i needed it more in my early stages…but a friend is coming to the end of her treatment and also wants to get on with her life…i remember reading here a great speech by a doctor/professor about when treatment is over and how you feel…it was very long and it was about the rollercoaster ride…any pointers in the right direction…thanks
[i did have it on file on computer but lost everythiing on computer due to a virus]
I think the article you are referring to is titled ‘After the treatment finishes - then what’? and was written by Dr Peter Harvey. You can find it on the internet by just typing the title into Google. I would put a link up here, but I don’t think that’s allowed!
I’m about to put it on our support group’s website. I contacted Dr Harvey (he retired in September last year) and he’s more than happy for me to do this. I’m going to do it in pdf format because, as Tracey’s says, it’s quite long (around 8 or 9 pages!).
It is a brilliant piece. I printed it a few months ago. I had a feeling I might go “down” but this made me so aware of the pitfalls I feel a bit armoured against them. The man is just great. I recomend anyone to read it and muse. Sorry he has retired but hope he is happy. Good man.
He said he’s got some more work to do on it and is hoping to produce it in book form and just update it a bit so hopefully we’ll get to hear about it when he’s finished it!
