Just had my last tax on Tuesday and wanted to ask any ladies if they had managed to keep some lashes and brows while on tax. i have some left and just wondered about others experiences or if they will go now after my treatment. My hair is only just starting to sprout again in the last 10 days.
I lost all eyelashes and brows. My lashes grew back quite quickly but I still have no eyebrows. It’s been over 2 years since I finished chemo so I don’t expect they will return now lol,I also find that my leg and underarm hair grows back much slower now after shaving, dont know if this is because of tamoxifen or chemo.
I kept some of my eyebrows and eyelashes, lost all other body hair. My hair, eyebrows and eye lashes growing nicely now (3 months post chemo), leg hair just started to grow back. No under arm hair, not that I am complaining thats one of the pluses no shaving.
Hi
Mine all fell out on AC and stayed off on tax, but my head hair did start to grow before my last cycle of tax. Eyebrows and lashes did grow back eventually, slowly, sparser than they were-like Mel says this may be down to tamoxifen.
Hope your existing ones hang in there and get joined by a few more soon.

hello - isn’t it funny how we all have different experiences with our hair. Finished 6xEC 3/3/10 and now have a good enough covering on my head to go wigless although still GI Jane’ish but just found wig too hot. Eyebrows and lashes came back quite quickly and my lashes seem to be longer than before! Hair on legs seemed to come back overnight, underarm hair barely there and a little “lady garden” returning. Have been taking my usual hair, nail and skin supplement that I was taking before diagnosis so don’t know if that has helped. Buy mine from Tesco (own brand is almost identical in content to a very well known brand).Going on holiday 4 July so hope head hair grows a bit more - 1" will do. Marli x
Had two fec and day three tax/c and despite cc lost most of my hair, eyebrows very patchy and eyelashes sparse. Still getting growth on legs though, no underarm shaving needed. Not using any supplements, heard nioxin products can be helpful after chemo? Anyone used this? Xxx
Hi ladies I had chemo number 5 on Wednesday (my 2nd tax after 3fec). My brows + lashes are fast deserting me since my 4th chemo + I’m praying I’m left with some by the end of my treatment next month. I’m really dark haired so the lack of brows etc will be more noticeable. Has any1 tried Cargo mascara? I’ve been recommended it as it’s been clinically shown to boost lash growth. I’ve just ordered some online from boots they’re on 3for2 at the min. I probably should have started using it much sooner tho! Good news is my head hair is growing back since switching to taxotere Fingers crossed our lashes + brows grow back quickly and better than ever xx
Although I kept a few lashes and brows when I was on Tax they were very sparse. I used Benefit Brow Zings on my eyebrows which I found very good and I’m still using it now I’ve got my eyebrows and eyelashes back. I think they are sparser than before though and I hardly ever have to pluck. Not complaining about that!
I find it much easier to use than a pencil. You can get Benefit cosmetics in Boots, Debenhams etc.
I’m so glad to hear you have got to the end of your chemo. I lost my eyebrows and lashes on tax and had to also rely on Brow Zings and eyeliner. My eyebrows came back sparser unfortunately and I suppose I’ll soon be saying goodbye to them again.
Now that your chemo is over we will hopefully see you at one of the meet-ups.
Brow Zings is eyebrow makeup from Benefit. It comes in a little compact thingy with two brushes and tweezers. One side is powder and one side is kind of a cream but really thick, you put the creamy stuff on first and then the powdery. It works really well, whether you have brows or not.
Hello, thought Id give you all a little reassurance re;-hair,brows & lashes, mine grew back at an amazing rate once it started, and all better than they were before! I no longer need to pluck my eyebrows, my lashes are as thick as before and my hair is the best it has ever been in my whole life. It grew in initially Quite frizzy, when it got long enough to start having it trimmed it got straighter with every trim but the thicker texture remained,I had my 8th haircut in April, exactly a year from finishing chemo. On the down side,as my hair grew in I developed a very hairy face,it was what you would describe as bumfluff but I was horrified,it looked even worse with make-up on an I felt too scared to wax it off in case it came on any coarser. However it just disappeared after a few weeks never to be seen again, just thought Id warn you then you`re not too worried.
Best wishes to all, love Mags xx
It is now 3 years since I finished chemo 4xfec and 4xtax.My hair is fine now,my lashes thin but there and I have NO eyebrows still-just stray hairs on one side and nothing on the other.I will look for Brow Zings.
