I haven’t been on here for a while so here it goes again, I had my initial BC diagnosis in October 2005, lumpectomy chemo & rads, local recurrence in 2011, mascectomy! Still on Exemestane.
Three months ago I hurt my back lifting a heavy work surface! After several trips to GP over next month as it got worse and worse he agreed to send me for a bone scan, after the scan the nurse said to me in the corridor you have hot spots on your spine so we are going to X-ray you. 4 X-rays later I went home to wait for results very nervous.
Bone scan showed a fracture and another concerning area! So I was sent for a dexa scan a week later, to see how my bones were but no change in last 3 years, then referred for an MRI, another 2 week wait, still concern over spine raised so off another referral for a CT scan which I had this week. BC nurse phoned to say still very concerned over the two areas in my spine but no definite answer.
Guess what im now being referred for a PET scan in another 2 weeks time! How much radiation should I be exposed too?
My mind is in turmoil, I have now been having scans for the last 8 weeks and still don’t know what the problems are, but fearing the worse.
Has any one else had similar things happen to them. Why do we have to wait so long for appointments and results. Mentally it is horrendous. I’m not sleeping and getting more and more stressed by the day. I feel like I’m wishing my life away to pass the couple of weeks to get to a scan which then is still inconclusive!
In in the meantime, pain continues! Any advice would be very much apprecited as to how to get through this! Before I go completely mad.
