been reading on here for a good week, such lovely expiring women and it made me oversome my guilt of posting on a site where women actually have BC.
Im 25 and 2 mornings ago i went to put my bra on and felt a horrible pain in my right breast, i immediatly but gently felt where the pain was and it felt like there was a hard ball the size of a grape directly behind my nipple, i went to the docs straight away ive learned with experience not to mess around with lumps. He felt it and said oo yes it quite tender it could be a cyst or an infection so he gave me 7 days of penicillin and to go back when ive finished if its still there go back, he was quite lovely i didnt feel for one second he was thinking its nothing like most do. in the days since, the grape lump it still there and ive woke up this morning and a pea size lump is now on top of the grape and is rising up from my nipple and forcing my nipple downwards slightly, im so scared as dont feel good my glands have swollen my neck is agony and my mouth is full of ulcers, ive told my mam but havent really told her im scared ![]()

Hi Mamof2 - I’d say if overnight something else has changed then cancer doesn’t grow that quickly, so chances are it is something that is more likely to be an infection or cyst. If your glands are swollen on your neck and you have ulcers, then that says to me infection, if I’ve ever had an infection (before BC) then I get massive swollen neck glands and mouth problems and cold sores.
I’m not a doctor obviously, but it maybe that your doctor is right.
That’s not to say that you can’t have BC at 25, the doctors always think it isn’t that because it’s usually in women over 50.
If you are concerned ring the helpline and if you’re still scared, go back to the doctors and ask them for a mammogram, they have to refer you if that’s the case.
Hope it is an infection or cyst! Let us all know how you get on xxx
Hi Mamof2,
welcome to the forums and thank you for you kind comments about us. Just to say, there is nothing we like better than someone spending a little itme with us and then being given good news that all is well for them - we know that most breast lumps are benign and we always hopw new posters are the lucky ones. Not cos we’re saints, just cos we wish everyone well.
If you are really worried, maybe you contact your GP again sooner than a week? It is such a long time isn’t it, and the ‘what if’ thought goes round and round in your mind.
Feel free to post on here as often as you like - scream, shout, cry, ask questions, whatever you need to do is normal and natural and thta’s why osme of us old lags return here to repay the favour.
I really really hope things soon feel better and that you do have something easily treated. Try not to keep checking the lump, it will only make you more sore and more anxious.
Try to do some fun things this weekend to take your mind off it - that’s not being dismissive, that’s just how a lot of us cope.
Sending you a hug
Hi there Mamof2
Firstly thankyou for your kind words
I agree I tend to agree with El Katrano when things appear over night they dont tend to be cancer. I think we can all understand your worries & its good that you are very breast aware.
I really hope we hear back from you that this is just a cyst does tend to lean that way. But feel free to post anytime with any worries don’t suffer in silience everyone here is friendly & always willing to give helpful advice
All the best
Mekala x
thankyou for the replies :), think doc was little bit cautious as my nanna had BC in her 20’s, i did straight away think infection as feel soo lousy but for the past 6 months i havent felt my best, id found a lump in my right breast 6 months or so ago but doc said it was a fibriod, also been going to physio for a while for neck pain and now my back locks and to add i get alot of pains in my chest which doc put down to very low blood pressure. i know things could be a coincidence but as you ladies know things swirl around in your head sometimes you can control. unfortunetly the hubby is away for 12 days so im going to summon some energy and have a lovely weekend with the kids x
Hi there, I am so sorry you are feeling so scared. Its such a horrible feeling finding that lump. Feelings of terror and sheer panick are the horrible thoughts that come with that.
I agree with what everyone else has said, Cancer doesnt grow or change over night. It takes months, even years to turn into something. Hope that reassures you a bit.
I hope you manage to have a good weekend with your children, but I know it will be hard or rather impossible to not worry.
Hugs xxx
could really do with a glass (or bottle) of wine ha but on these tablets i cant for now.
you think its possible to be a worrier, optimistic yet realist at the same time as thats the feeling im getting. xx
Hi Mamo,
Sorry you are feeling so ill. Obviously I do not know what the lump is but it does not sound like cancer. It is possible that you have an infection, especially as your glands are swollen but, it is also possible that Penicillin is not the correct anti-biotic for what you have. You should start to feel some relief after two days if the Penicillin is working. If you are no better by Monday you should go back to the doctor. If you are worse over the weekend there will be a walk in centre somewhere near you for you to see another doctor. If you phone your doctors number there should be a message telling you where to go.
I do hope that by tomorrow you are feeling better.

Hi Mamof2,
Let’s hope you don’t join the rest of us … everything is crossed for you!!
Just to add to what Emmbee said … If you are feeling worse over the weekend …don’t be afraid to call your GP - you will either be redirected to another number or put through to out of hours GP services. Unfortunately, it seems a little known service that the NHS provides but it’s there and if you need it … use it!!
Best wishes

does your doctor have an emergency saturday morning surgery?? If you are not feeling any better tomorrow it does sound as if you are on the wrong antibiotics and the sooner you change the better and it would be good to get yourself seen again–as all the others have said, cancer does not balloon up over night.
Cant have wine?? you slipped up there girl, i alway insist on a brand of antibiotics that i can have alcohol with.
OAL - I like your style!! I’m on flucloxacillin for a strange rash/bruising on my boob … I’ve just read the packet …it doesn’t mention alcohol …cheers!!! Ax
I am so so scared I just got out of a bath and not only does the lump look like a second nipple, my nipple is pulling in and facing down I’m deformed
I can’t believe how fast this is happening if my worst fear comes true I’m even more scared that its secondary
Phone your GP … Ok you will go through a call handler or nurse advisor at first but you should be able to speak to a medic. You can’t go all weekend feeling like this!
Axx
AnnieK is right, you can’t spend all weekend this worried. Phone your GP and get them to take another look - they will then be able to reassure and help you. In the meantime try not to keep checking - you will make it more sore and just worry yourself silly.
Sending you a hug,
find a doctor tomorrow, this sounds like an infection. Honestly cancer does not grow like this, it is something else making your breast change so quickly, but something that need dealing with. Hopefully a change in antibiotics will sort it out quickly.
Had a lovely weekend with the kids reallly helped but still can’t sleep with panic atacks. 5Yh day of antibs and nipple less painful but shocked my mother when I showed her my ‘second nipple’ today
pains in chest neck and right shoulder today I think the not knowing may actually send me crazy. At docs tomorrow. X
good, the doc will sort you out. if nipple less painfull then antibiotics must be slowly kicking in. Your ‘second nipple’ grew overnight so it could either be something to do with the infection or a cyst or something.
as to the pains, its a very common thing. When you are worried about one of your breasts you subonciously hold yourself slightly different and that uses muscles you have not used before and they get sore.
anything to do with the breasts is realy worrying and we all automatically think the worse, and you are right to get to the docs tomorrow to get it all sorted out, but it does sound like something he will be able to deal with.
There is a possibility that even if he thinks its a cyst he will send you of to a clinic just to be sure, or to have it drained if he cannot do it himself. But by this time tomorrow you will have answers.
Thankyou for the reassurance its very very hard for my mind not to tick tick tick if my Nanna hadn’t had breast cancrr so young I think I Wud have been a little calmer x
