Lump in neck

Hi all

Got appt to see GP Fri about a lump I’ve noticed in my neck - just to left side of ‘voice box’. First aware of it Monday when moving my head to left or up and down - felt like something pressing on inside of throat (but from the outside if you see what I mean). Yesterday eve I felt a marble sized lump. Doesn’t hurt to touch. Feel slightly under the weather but nothing specific. Any ideas anyone? I’m thinking the worst. Original dx April 08 was node negative so hoping it’s a swollen gland from something viral and nothing sinister but I can’t help worrying.

Might be something totally similar, had sore throat and gland was up on bad side - turned out to be tonsilutus. Hope you get sorted and its something viral, just makes you panic thou x

Hi again - seems I have an infection (lisaf - you were right!) so now on penicillin for a week but wants me to go back in a fortnight to see if lump has changed. If it hasn’t, then will go for scans. Heigh ho - this how it’s going to be now methinks; any ache, pain, lump or bump and off to the GP we go thinking the worst. Incidently, he was very good - didn’t think I was overreacting and said I did the right thing going to see him and understood my anxieties. So, as they say, I’ll keep taking the tablets and see what happens.

Take care everyone.

PS couldn’t resist this avatar - the look speaks volumes!!!

Hi, i too have a lump in the right hand side of my neck, my surgeon sent me for an ultra sound scan, this was clear though the lump is still up and i have now noticed one on my lower arm on that side, i was told to look out for any changes, but don’t really know what changes to look out for! anyway, it has put my mind at rest for the moment, i do not have a sore throat or feel any other symptoms, so i am hoping it goes down soon.

Hi Peeps
Update - finished 7 day course of antibiotics. Lump has gone down a bit but not disappeared BUT now got cold sore so perhaps viral & antibiotics wouldb’t work anyway. Got appt with GP on 16th to check it out again. Failing that, seeing Surgeon on 28th Feb. Heigh ho - so it carries on.
