hello
i finished radiotherapy in march and have so been looking forward to doing something other than have treatment for breast cancer…but a few days ago i found a lump near the scar line. i went to the doctor who says she thinks it is a cyst but that i should go to my hospital and get it checked out. has anyone had anything like this?
jo
I had one -panicked
Breast care nurse thought it was scar tissue so went and saw my consultant who diagnosed Lymphodema. Do go and get it checked out

I have a sizable lump at my scar line - locum GP disagnosed infection gave me anti-biotics, out of hours GP backed this up - changed anti-biotics … breast care nurse and onc told me to chuck anti-biotics away as the lump was scar tissue.
Hi Jo
I had the same thing, it is a horrible sinking feeling isnt it !!! but it turned out to be lymphoedema and is quite common a few weeks after radiotherapy, i had healed beautifully and my skin was lookin lovely but its a delayed reaction !! go and get it checked out , i rang my breast nurse and they told me to pop up to the breast clinic , let us know how you get on

Hi,
I had WLE in November,07 and i am currently undergoing chemo, i too have a lump along my scar line. I felt that it was scar tissue as it was initially a hard lump around the whole area that seemed to be dispersing into smaller lumps.
I went for my rads planning session yesterday and i had a 3d scan and nothing showed up on that and the radiographer even asked the oncologist to have a look…he even examined my breast and felt that the main lump that i was referring too was probably a stitch that has not disolved.
I was not too worried but the doubts did creep in at times…no i know it is nothing things are ok again.
I hope everything is ok for you Jo too.
Love Deb xx
Hi
Have just been through very similar, It does bring a real sinking feeling. While having chemo questioned onc about lump in scar line. Finished chemo Nov 07 and radiotherapy Feb 08. Questioned onc again who sent me back to surgeon. He did fine needle biopsy which showed abnormal cells, sinking feeling sank lower!!
I then had a ultra sound scan and surgeon was going to biopsy lump. Could not find anything with ultra sound, so nothing to biopsy. Abnormal cells were probably caused by radiotherapy. It is all very frightening!!!
Good Luck

hi
yes, kim its frightening all of this! the first thing the surgeon said yesterday when he saw the lump was ‘well this is a worrying looking lump, isn’t it?!’. but he stuck a needle in it and it aspirated and he ended up saying he is pretty sure that it isn’t cancer. will test and hopefully confirm this on monday.
hope you are having a good weekend.
