Hi Please, has anyone ever heard of DCIS spreading to lymph glands without first returning at the original site? I had a mastectomy for pure DCIS 5 years ago, but now I’ve found a pea-sized lump under my arm on that side (not in the skin/flesh, it’s deep inside). After my mastectomy I was told that my chances of recurrence were very low and that if it did return it would be a lump near the original site. So if this is cancer it must mean the original diagnosis of DCIS was wrong and that I’ve been going around with cancer cells lurking in my lymph gland for years, right? I’ve left a message for my Breast Care nurses about this but while I’m waiting for them to get back to me, thought I’d ask here. Thanks everyone!
No haven’t heard of this. Has the BCN got back to you yet?
Let us know how you get on.
The BCN told me to go to my GP and get her to refer me back to the hospital, so I did this yesterday. They should see me within 2 weeks, probably for ultrasound and possibly for needle biopsy.
