lump

Hi All.had breast cancer 2 years ago.had a lumpectomy and some lymph nodes removed.had a course of radiotherapy and all went well.there is a history of bc in my family,my mother died with it at the age of 48.I have now found a hard pea sized lump in the same breast.i am waiting for the apptment to have a mammogram.doc says it could be scar tissue but im not convinced altho i really hope he is right.does anyone have any honest advice? good or bad? thanx

Hi Anneliz, so sorry your finding yourself in that awful waiting room again. As your dr says it could very well be scar tissue, as it can form as lumps and bumps.
I had a mastectomy and full node clearance, chemo and radio, also 2 years ago. I also lost my mum to bc at 49, i have since been dx with the faulty brca2 gene.
Can i ask if you have had the genetic test?

hi sharon,thanx for your response.no i have not had the genetic test.my daughter had an early mammogram last month shes 35 because of the family history.luckily it came back clear.would i have to ask for the test or do they usually refer you for it?
