Lumpectomy in the morning

Hi ladies,
I’ve just come across the site and signed up…I have no real idea what all the terminology is or what type mine is but I was diagnosed two weeks ago, flew on holiday the best morning and I had dye injection this afternoon and tomorrow morning the tumour and surrounding lymph glands are to be removed.
Will they tell me tomorrow what “stage” I was at or type it was? I believe they perhaps told me the type but it is just all a blur.
I have just turned 40, hubby and I gave been trying for a baby since married 7 years ago, I’ve been told I will get radiotherapy and possibly a “tablet” and more than likely some chemo given my age…they gave referred me to fertility specialist but I’ve heard nothing yet. I am quite overweight so they may nit attempt egg harvesting I gave been told.
Also been referred to genetics as my mum and both aunts also had breast cancer (mum and one aunt died)
Basically…I am freaking out a little.
I feel scared, un-informed (probably my own fault), nervous, as obviously have you all probably done at one tine or another?

Any words of wisdom or pointers gladly accepted xx

Hi Lexy

Sorry you are feeling so confused. First of all good luck with your op today. I hope it goes well you will hopefully only be a day case if you are having Lumpectomy.
Usually you will get an appointment for 2 weeks time for your results when they will give you more details of grade, stage etc. You will also be told what treatment you will be going to have and an appointment will be made for you to see an oncologist reagerding this. MORE waitin I’m afraid!!!

All the very best with your treatment you will feel better I am sure once you have a plan of what treatment you will be getting

Lexy I felt like that. Until I found out as much info as possible about this rotten disease. I was on this site two days after diagosis so have been getting advice and info since then. I think knowledge is power - bring paper and a pen and ask everything. Or you can ring your breast cancer nurse today and find out everything before you go in. Good luck with the op I hope it all goes well for you. I am a couple of weeks behind you I only found out a week ago - I am hopefully finding out by end of the week what treatment is in store for me. I am 35. Looks like I have caught it early and no nodes involved (for now) but they think its a grade 2 which means medium growing rate.

Hi everyone, thank you for your replies, I tried to come on last week but signing in I couldn’t find my post so gave up and went back to bed!
Operation went fine, was lumpectomy and sentinal lode biopsy. Still in quite a bit of pain if I’m honest but getting there. Have surgeons appt on 29th October so hopefully find out more then, I haven’t heard anything from genetics or fertility dept yet so would like to hope I know more next week?

I am thinking of going back to work on Monday? I was done on 16th so that’s a week and a half off., I am just conscious that I will need more time off during the treatment and my temporary job is up for advert this week and I just feel if I’m not at work I may not be I’m the running for the post :frowning:

Now that I know what I’m doing a bit more I will have a look around the site and Bella I hope everyone is doing well? xx
