Lumpectomy on Monday , having a melt down day today 😪

Yes, I was actually surprised at how quickly the wait went considering it was 9 hours!

I had the exact same problem with sleeping initially as I need to sleep propped up. I ended up making a wedge out of three pillows, adding a v pillow on top of those for neck support and to stop me rolling over, then popping a fourth pillow under my knees. It took a bit of getting right but once I’d cracked it, I found it worked quite well, although I absolutely cannot wait to get back to my usual side sleeping.

Hi - just wanted to jump on as had therapeutic mammoplasty and sentinel node removal yesterday. I was so scared - mostly because have never had a general before!

It was absolutely fine - first one down to theatre which was really lucky. must have been so hard waiting all day @mssteel Back at home by 6.30pm. A little sore but minimal.

Thanks so much @butterflywing for reassuring me.!

@hen - hope you are doing ok?

just the wait for results now….

Thank you.

I’m taking it slow as I was third on the list and later than planned coming home due to the other two surgeries running over.

Which I was fine with as I was there.

Pleased your surgery went well and wasn’t as painful as you thought. I haven’t had a general before either. I had a therapeutic mammoplasty and reduction the other breast and lymph node biopsy.
Can move around surprisingly well - not
Too much in one go, x

Hello my fellow breast cancer patient, butterfly wing.

You have every reason to feel the way you do.

Cancer is scary and the treatment to cure it is equally scary. Yes it’s a tough road to travel, but you have a choice, you can turn around and don’t do anything at all, or you can take the treatment and work towards a brighter future.

Cancer does change you and your life, but the choice is yours.

I have learned so much from cancer and I continue to take on the challenges it brings.

You are not alone, we all have our moments but don’t forget to ask for help. Macmillan are always there to help and have plenty of information on treatment, how to live with cancer, how to speak to others and so much more. Take care. God bless you and see you on the other side of your op. :heart_eyes:

@Monkeybubbles

Thankyou for your message , hearing from other ladies makes me feel a little less alone.

My op was last Monday so I’m exactly 1 week post op . The op was alot less stressful than I expected and recovery has been good without much pain at all .

I’m now just at the point where the euphoria of getting the op done has been replaced by worry over the results and what comes next . Am trying to go one day at a time and hope for a good outcome :folded_hands: xx

So glad you are on the other side of the op.

As difficult as it is not to worry about the results, worry is a waste of energy. I always give this analogy you are driving along and you know there is a humback bridge up ahead. There is no point thinking about it now because otherwise you are not going to see that child that has walked out from behind a car into the middle of the road. So try not to worry. Think about what you can do to help yourself cope with the next step. Put in place your support system.

Good luck lovely. X

Thats a great way to look at it ! Thankyou for reaching out xx

I can identify - the first few days felt such relief it was over … now worrying about the results next Tuesday.

x

@jolou

Fingers crossed for the best news possible on Tuesday!

Have you had to wait long for your results appointment ? x

Actually thinking of it - I am assuming that is the results appointment! My surgeon said it would be about ten days - and she came to see me after surgery and told me that is when she would see me in clinic…I was still spaced out so didnt ask much! so maybe its just to check healing - but time wise it fits. Were you given any idea re results timing?

@jolou

I was told it would be 3 - 4 weeks before my results were back and that I’d get a call and my appointment could be literally the next day and not to read anything into the speed of the appointment.

I didn’t see the surgeon or been offered any follow up appointment other than the results one x.

oh I see - I may be jumping to the wrong conclusion. Do you have an appt to check dressing etc?

Could you phone your nurses to check?

I’m seeing my surgeon on Thursday which is just over three weeks since surgery and she will remove the dressings then and discuss the results with me - the BCN already called yesterday to give me the low down on results so I won’t be surprised at meeting

@jolou

I haven’t got a date for any appointment. I called the BCN last week to ask when I could remove the dressings and she just said 7-10 days .

I haven’t had any follow up from the hospital at all so I’m assuming the only appointment I will have is results in 2 - 4 weeks post surgery x
