Hi all im half way through 15 days of radiotherapy after todays @5.35pm! I had a small lump in the wle area before starting but now its like a lumpy area. Is it normal for it to get like this. Im guessing it may be fat necrosis or some kind if scarring. Anyone had similar?

Thanks for your reply. Its great to be halfway through but im finding it more difficult as time goes on. Im grateful to be receiving treatment but im finding my appointment times so difficult. Im never home before 7pm and just go straight to bed. Not eating well and feel drained. One more week left thankgoodness

Keep going ,each day is nearer the end . 3 weeks of rads is hard going . My boob got firmer and swollen as the sessions went on maybe thats meaning you are more aware of the impact of your surgery / scar tissue ? You can ask the radiographers about this if you are worried and they can get a radiologist to check things out re-assure you . Good luck with the rest of your treatment .

@susynight - I didn’t have radiotherapy so don’t know I’m afraid but as @Jill1998 suggests I’d have a chat with the radiographers and ask their advice .
On a different note … hooray for half way marks … Radiotherapy can be pretty gruelling so I hope you are being kind to yourself and resting x

Having radiotherapy at the moment. 2 days in and im really sore especially in lumpy areas where scar is . Im assuming its scar tissue being aggravated by radiotherapy. Ill as them on monday . Feels swollen too and like prickly feeling . Anyone else?

Hi im the same. Its sore and raw feeling. Im definitely more lumpy than when i started but with my appointments being the last of the day everyone has gone home and department locked up so i dont feel like delaying things any further by asking questions. My bcn said talk to a radiotherapy nurse but ive never seen or been offered to see one. I am on 12/15 treatments now so decided to see what happens once its finished.
I hope you get some help on monday.
14 of 15 treatments in implant recontruction. Boob feels like it could explode tonight! Very red/rash all over left chest. Is thid normal towards the end of treatments? Does anyone know?

Ask for a clinic appointment with your BCN - it’s hard to know what’s normal isn’t it ? The reason I’m saying to get assessed is that I just assumed my boob was ok even though it was still red and swollen after three months but when I went to the clinic about something else my Nurse was concerned about it. I didn’t need treatment in the end but if had it not improved she was going to refer me to the Lymphoedema Nurse . If it looks like a rash they may need to give you a prescription for something else to put on your breast other than whatever it is you are using . Xx

Thanks yes I will ask when i go for final radiotherapy in the morning. Its very difficult to know whats normal for a reconstructed/implant breast. I think thats why im in this position of having a recurrence. It was diagnosed as fat necrossis for 5 years.
