Lumpy Neck - help and advice needed I had a recent biopsy on a large hard lump which had come up on my neck. The biopsy was clear although my consultant still wanted to see me in 2 months time. He said it was probably a “reactive” lymph node but wanted to keep an eye on me. I have to see him again next week. The lump is still there and I am concerned as to what this lymph node is so badly reacting too! Could it be a cancer spread somewhere else? Should I ask for more tests?
Has anyone else had anything like this?

Hi Patricia That’s weird. I wrote a reply to your post yesterday, but it looks like I lost it when I posted.

I wrote to say that I’m very sorry you’re worried, but glad your biopsy came back clear. I don’t have personal experience of lumps in my neck, but I do know that they can have innocent causes, such as infection.

I think you should be reassured by the careful eye your onc is keeping on you. If he feels there is a need for more tests I’m sure he will ask for them. Why not tell about your worries and ask his opinion when you see him next week?

Hi

I have a similar problem with lumps in my neck. I had BC 10yrs ago and fear it may have come back.

I had a cyst take from my skin just below the b/button a month ago & two weeks later the lumps appeared in my neck.

I had biopsy and was told yesterday that the test was ‘suspicious’. It didn’t help when the Dr said that they couldn’t get much of a sample to test. So I’m thinking if that is suspicious what wld a bigger sample reveal.

I am waiting for an appt for a full bone/body scan.

If your worried I’m sure we’re all entitled to second opiions.

I wld also say to you that if the biopsy was ‘clear’ then maybe your Dr is just being very cautious which is reassuring.

Has it returned??? Hi

Have been BC free since 1997.

I had a cysty type thing removed from just below the naval.

A month later I had an abcess appear on my left breast/chest then a couple of days after that I noticed lumps in my neck. I rang the hospital I’m under and was seen the next day.

I had a biopsy shortly after and the results were yesterday. They told me that the test had come back as ‘suspicious’. I broke down is tears.

He said the sample was very small. My thoughts were if a very small sample is suspicous what would a bigger one reveal.

I am waiting to have a full bone/body scan.

Very worried I cannot say anything to my son who is in the Army and over in Cyprus. He’s home on the 16th so I just pray I won’t have to tell him anything.

Hi Ive had the same sort of thing. My lump appeared on my right shoulder about were a bra strap sits. I had an ultrasound and was told I had a lump under my arm and that it may be a “reactive lymph node”. Now my shoulders, back and neck feel bruised when they are touched.
Anyway, doctor wants me to go for an MRI scan. I dont know what to think…

Thanks everyone Thank you to everyone who replied. My consultant still thinks that it is the reactive lymph node thing and nothing to worry about at this stage although he wants to see me again in 3 months.

I hope it is also good news for those of you who have had similar lumps. Please let me know how you get on…
