Lung spread?

I was treated for BC in Dec 04 to March 05 and had lumpectomy, chemo and radio. I have been fine (apart from exhaustion) but now have a niggling cough which won’t seem to go and mostly doesn’t hurt but does sometimes. Am I being alarmist in asking might this be a sign of the BC returning in my lung? There is no blood or anything coughing up, and I have no weight loss (could do with it!) or shortness of breath out of the ordinary.

Grateful for anyone’s advice or experience of this. (Guess answer might be a chest Xray!)
Thanks
Sue

I have lung mets and was diagnosed from the start (lumpectomy, ct scan, bone scan all within a week!!)
I had and still have no symptoms a year later. Doesnt really help you though does it??

Hi same here had niggly cough gp done x ray I ended having lung mets on both lungs I’ve still got cough a yr later no one seems bothered tc Laura

I have mets on my lungs dx along with primary from the beginning, dx back beginning of march this year, finished chemo in july developed a cough in august but all my friends and family also had a annoying persistant cough it must of been a virus as it has now disappeared completely occassional cough not everyday. Also went through mx with lymph node clearnce in sept with the cough told my drs at the hospital about cough and like laura64 says they dont seem bothered about it. My mets are stable and have been since june this year. Sorry this probably does not help you but does go someway in explaining that not all cough’s mean mets. I would get a CT scan done thats how mine were dx.

I wish it were that easy to get a CT scan! I didn’t even have one when I had my primary DX.

Spoke to BC nurse at hospital today and she said it might be an infection that’s not clearing, so seeing GP next week and see what she says. Hopefully antiobiotics will get rid of it.

And Laura, when you say nobody seems bothered do you mean no treatment given?

subee - I had a CT scan done in the beginning cause we knew it had got into my lymph nodes maybe thats why they did the ct scan, surely you could request a ct scan especially as you have had a history of BC, and like laura64 said no one seems bothered same here ie" the drs dont seem bothered, yes I’ve had treatment chemo/surgery soon to be rads on tamoxifen/herceptin this is breast cancer on the lungs not primary lung cancer so is treated the same as the primary in the breast.

Cough cleared up soon after this posting so not as worried! Best wishes and thanks to all who replied. Feel a bit of a time-waster!
