This might sound a stupid question my surgeon said she is removing all my lymph under my arm as they were all full of cancer how many lymph have we got
Hi Elaine
We all have a different amount, strange as that may seem, l have known people only have 8 removed and considered a full clearance, l had 18 removed and 16 were infected, my friend had 28 removed and 20 were infected, l have read some have had 30 nodes removed.
so all very different
Good Luck, when is your operation?
Love and Hugs

Thank you sandra how strange is that i would have thought we were all the same
Hi Elaine
Yes l thought we would have had all the same, there are quite a few threads about lymph nodes, you could do a search if you wanted to find out more, Is your op soon?

Hi Elaine,
My consultant told me I have 30 in each arm, I had 20 removed of which 6 were cancer.
Hope all goes well when you have your operation.

Hi, Elaine, yes we are all different. I had 10 with 4 affected and was told I had full clearance. you just have to trust your surgeon, I quess. It’s too complicated for me to understand! good luck with your op-I only have my right boob now, too!

I win - I had 33 removed!
Elaine I hope your surgeon meant only the ones sampled had cancer cells - not all of them. It is very common to have a small number infected and quite a lot clear - so fingers crossed this will be the case for you.

hi finity no she said they were all full and needs to remove them all is that not good news she also said my bust was full of cancer aswell as a 9cm tumor it is now 2cm after chemo please reply
Hi Elaine,
Was it your surgeon that said your nodes were full and your breast was full of cancer? l find this a strange thing for any surgeon to say, you say your lump has gone from 9cm to 2cm so that is good, and hopefully this will show in the lymph nodes as well.
I thought they could only tell what was is in the lymph nodes after they had taken them out! and your op isn’t until the 23rd September!
bit of a wait and see
Hugs

Hi elaine
I hope this post comes up, the connection is doing funny things with my posts tonightand this is my third attempt.
I fail to see how your surgeon can know how many lymph glands are infected until they are removed and sent to the lab for analysis. The results usually then take a few days, I got mine whilst still in hospital.
Lots of love Anne x
Hi sandra this was my surgeon i have been having frequent screening via ultrasound couldnt do the mri didnt like the enclosure have to see her again on the 6th not sure what for only seen her last week
Hi elaine
As sandra says your tumour has gone from 9cm to 2cm with chemo which is an excellent result. I haven’t heard of them being able to tell that much detail about lymph glands from an ultrasound before but hope they have reduced also if that is the case.
I am so sorry you have to wait until the 23 for your op. the waiting is always the hardest part. You will get lots of support here.
Love Anne x x
Hi Elaine just to add to what the others have said. I had one node found at u/s but biopsy showed some cancer so had full ANC. Surgeon took out 11 nodes 4 were affected. I asked him if he had got them all as 11 did not sound very many. He said yes my dear some ladies might only have 8 and others 30 odd. This was only known after my surgery. It’s great news that your tumour has shrunk so much. Good luck for 23rd, the waiting is the most difficult. Sending you hugs and love Jackie
Heres hoping they get all mine having had 4xAC and 4TAX that was more than enough for me but the result was very good
opp done and dusted surgen said she did a grade 2 clearance i see her on the 6th oct what does that mean
