I’m worried and hope someone can give me advice please. I noticed at least yesterday and now today that my left arm is swollen, this is were the BC is. I’m pre MX and had only core biopsies to the lymph nodes in nov where a couple tested positive. They have not been enlarged on a CT scan end of Dec, so I took this as a bit of an encouragemnt that hopefully they wouldn’t be so badly effected. I had 3 FEC and two Docetaxel, the second Docaetaxel just yesterday. I was adviced that Docetaxel can cause water retention, but why only on my effected left arm and nowhere else as far as I can see. Does this mean my lymph nodes are very badly cancerous and can’t cope anymore with drainage?
I phone BCN tomorrow but hope someone can advice me on this tonight already.
My husband meassured it and it’s basically no difference, panic subsiding. The jumper left marks yesterday, this morning and tonight, my husband also thought it looked more swollen two hours ago.
Because of chemo pre MX / ANC I havent’t got the full picture of the disease yet and it gets to me. Just want to know what’s happening and going on in my body and won’t know for another 2.5 months! The tension isn’t nice.
Hi Christine
I had swelling in my BC arm side pre-op, long story went to GP with swollen arm and ended up in breast clinic! I had WLE and ANC, 14 nodes removed of which 3 had cancer, was told that swelling pre op could be that lymph nodes were compromised, basically as you say not doing their job! Dont think of it as badly cancerous. Since I have had op 5 weeks ago i have been doing exercises twice a day and have had no restrictions with movement and am driving with no problems.
Good luck, I am sure you will be ok. x
hi christine
i’m glad your arm’s more comfy but i’m sorry you’re having such a hard time
of course you’re feeling panicky & nervous - don’t beat yourself up about that!
& even though you’re luckily not a member at the moment, come & get a hug from the lymphoedema gang any time you like
