Mammo and USG all clear but I'm still worried - should I ask for second opinion?

Hello Ladies,

I found a couple of breast lumps recently, my GP referred me to a rapid diagnostic clinic and I had my appointnment last Friday. The breast surgeon I saw agreed there were lumps there, but both the mammogram and USG did not show anyhing at all, other than I had ‘very dense tissue’. This is confusing, because I can very clearly feel the lumps and both doctors (GP and the specialist) confirmed they could feel them, too.

Now, I am probably a complete idiot, but instead of feeling happy, I’ve started worrying whether I might have a very early Inflammatory BC which, as I understand, does not necessarily show on mammograms and USG. One of my breasts feels fuller than the other, which it didn’t use to. One nipple also started looking a bit different - it’s pointing slightly higher than the other, or maybe the other one is just more droopy? I don’t even know anymore. Could one breast be more sensitive to the fluctuating hormones than the other? I have done too much ‘googling’ for my own good, but have read that IBC may manifest as increased breast tissue density and I didn’t think that someone who is nearly 50 would have ‘very dense breast tissue’ as shown on the mammogram. I didn’t have a chance to talk to the breast surgeon about it in my clinic appointment, because after the initial assessment I went for the tests and afterwards was told there was no need to go and talk to the doctor again because they didn’t find anything.

What do I do now? Should I go back to my GP and ask her about details of my tests? Tell her that despite being told they were normal, I am still worried something is lurking there, so would like to be re-referred to the breast clinic? I know I sound like a hypochondriac, but it really worries me. Did anyone else have a similar experience, please?

Just wanted to say hi, I’ve had the same result to hope you feel better. I’m fretting to because I had no real reasons to the lump.
