Hi iv been diagnosed with IDC grade 3 HER2 neg and I’m having lumpectomy on left with lymph node removal and Mamoplasty (reduction) on both sides on Monday. I forgot to ask how long the surgery may take. Does anyone have an idea? Thanks

It’s understandable you’d like to know how long your surgery on Monday will take.
The length of surgical procedures differs depending on the complexity of each case, the surgical techniques used and the surgeon or surgeons performing the surgery. For that reason, it’s not possible for us to give you an accurate time length. However, this type of surgery can typically take around 2 to 4 hours to complete.
The length of time you are in the theatre suite in total will be longer, as this will also include the time taken for preparation and giving you the anaesthetic, as well as time spent waking up in the recovery area after the surgery before you return to the ward.
Your surgeon or breast care nurse are best placed to give you a more accurate idea of what to expect on Monday, so you may want to contact them to ask about this.
