Just wanted to say that my sister is running her first marathon (after numerous half marathons!) in Chester on October 9th & her chosen charity is Breast Cancer Care. I feel very honoured & proud that she’s doing this, after all I couldn’t manage a mile let alone 26, and just wanted you all to know! I will be there to cheer her on & no doubt shed some tears with her when she crosses that finish line!

I couldn’t run to the end of our street at the moment. If there is a link for sponsorship please can you add it? I have done quite a few race for life but never dreamed that one day I would be one of the people benefiting from the money raised from these events. Tell your sister thank you from me!!

Hi Dugsy

Say well-done to your sister, it is a hard slog and she must have put a lot of effort and training into it. (Says me who has never taken part in any race more than 5K.)

I live in Chester so will probably head in to town to cheer on those taking part - is she wearing a Breast Cancer Care T-shirt? Although I will cheer on all taking part; those running for BCC or breakthough, will get a very loud cheer from me.

I am sure that you will shed a few tears, you have every right to be proud of her. I went to the race for life earlier this year and wasn’t prepared for how emotional I would be, seeing my name on the back of so many T-shirts.

Nicky, I’m not sure what she’ll be wearing yet, but will let you know nearer the time. Your support on the day will be much appreciated. I’m planning on taking a big banner so will let you know what that says as well!

I am walking a half marathon on Saturday night to raise money for research into breast cancer - running I do not do! It has been great to have this goal to urge me to regain fitness after my treatment and I’m really looking forward to it. Defintiely not fishing for sponsoring btw, just would like to sponsor your sister, as several lovely bcc forum folk have already sponsored me.
