March 2025 chemo starters

Good to hear no pain. I only got the pain on last jab last time. So I’m hoping the same this time or not all would be even better!

I’m on EC every 3 weeks and I have the injections from day 3- 7. I confirmed with my oncologist that when I moved to paclitaxel after 4 x EC, the injections will not be on my take home drugs. So I’m just looking forward for that i just have to do 10 injections left (I had my 3rd EC yesterday)

I’m so glad we won’t have them on paclitaxal. Hope you’re doing ok, well done on cycle 3 of EC. I’ve got my last one at the end of April before I move onto to weekly pac x 12 weeks. Have you got the cold gloves and socks?

Morning, I have my third round today of phesgo, docetaxel and carboplantin, i had a rough first week last cycle so they giving me some more meds to help so fingers crossed this wont be as bad, Im really feeling the fatigue now though.

Anyone that is struggling with sensitive scalp, I went on the look good feel better hair loss and scalp care workshop which was super good, a tip they suggested is filling a sink with as hot water as you can handle and putting a few drops of pure tea tree oil in it then getting a soft flannel or cloth into it, ringing it out then putting it on your scalp. I do this before bed every night and its so nice and calmes everything down.

But I would definitely recommend the workshop and it is virtual so can do it from home. I shaved my in my first cycle as it too was getting me down losing my hair, felt a lot better once my wife shaved it and I manily wear scarfs or hats now but I also have a fantastic wig that a love. I feel comfortable going bald in the house, but you do what ever makes you feel comfortable.

We’ve got this Ladies! xx

Hi there Under the Sea, sounds like you’re on the same regimen as my Mum (she’s HER2+). I’m going to shave her head this weekend as the hair loss is annoying her now. I think I’m more nervous about it than she is!

Can I ask where you got your wig from? I need to make a post about wigs as that’s something I need to help my Mum sort out

Hope this round is kinder to you x

For wigs, your team will usually point you in the direction of your local shop. In Wales we get a £100 voucher towards a wig. I still had to pay £50 on top and then didn’t need it as the cold cap was successful for me. I recently found out about a lovely charity that wants to ‘rehome’ wigs, PICC line covers, caps, scarves etc, so I post off my unused wig, caps, scarves and c-lash eyelashes that I hadn’t used.

Has anyone else periods stopped after one cycle of chemo? Mine have stopped, which I kind of expected. I’m 49 and pre menopausal

The hospital should be able to do a referral or do a voucher of some sort for your mum. I’m getting treatment from great western in Swindon and got a referral, then had to top up.

It can be a shock but i felt a lot better after doing it as I took control, it doesnt bother me too much now x

I’m 41, and I did asked my oncologist this week about this. I had a period before my 1st EC And continued the period after chemo for few days more, then I had another period before 3rd EC (6 weeks apart). Doctor said it still varies some women will continue with shorter cycle and some continue will longer gap. Some stop and still continue. But after her explanation I was still confused, because am triple positive I know the aim is for to stop my period so that hormones stops feeding my cancer. Will ask again next appt.

Interesting topic about the periods, mine are late as well and I was pondering if it was because of chemo (I’m 35, triple negative, no hormones). Will also ask my oncologist.

I also think my eyebrows will start falling out soon :weary: New hairs don’t grow anymore and it’s very empty around the eyebrows, usually there are some small hairs there… The area became very dry too. I just got used to my bald head, not ready for eyebrows yet

I’ve just realised that I haven’t had a period and should have been due this week. Last one started 7th march. I’m 45 and premenopausal. I wasn’t expecting it to stop abruptly. Will see what happens.

I keep looking at my brows and lashes hoping they stay.

Hope everyone id doing ok this week, I guess Ive been a bit more tired/lack of oomph, tried to dig over compost and 2 shovel loads and I was out of breath, my taste buds are shot now :frowning: just got up and thought I could feel a mild ache across lower back, now im sat and its beginning to throb so I probably need to take a couple of paracetamol before it gets worse, last jab tonight. I went to the Wessex Cancer support, in Bournemouth yesterday, very informative, I was offered a drink and there were cakes and goodies on the table and I can have 4 complimentary treatments (and go on wait list if I would like more) so I asked for Reiki, I said no to counselling but if I need it at any time then I just have to ask. They have a drop in a couple of days, so I might go to that.

Def don’t overdo it on these days, take some paracetamol and rest up. The good days will be here next week and you’ll have more energy then. Good to hear about the treatments. Have a nice restful day. I’m on day 4, no steroids from today and last tune day 4-6 were my v hard days so I’m scared to move! I’ll have a shower and just rest up for a few days and hopefully by Monday/tuesday I’ll be feeling ok x @cruising

I’m the same as you x

I think it’s a good sign tho as it’s shut off the hormones that we don’t want!

I have had a period but it was lighter and arrived later than expected so definately a change. Im 46 and pre menopausal. If they stop does anyone know if that is likely to be it or could they come back? Not done much research into this area of side effects.

It’s day 4 post chemo and I feel very tired, hoping day 5/6 isn’t like cycle one as I’m on 20% dose reduction this time. I think it’s when the steroids stop. Does anyone else gradually reduce them rather than an abrupt stop? I’ve just got to get thru the next few days then I’ll perk up again. My face is very red from injections. Temp is ok. Think it’ll be a day led on the bed today. Feel a bit low and upset today, looked in the mirror I have no hair, no left boob and feel like I’ve still got another EC to go and 12 weekly packitaxal to get thru x
