Hilary’s funeral will take place on Thursday April 1st at 2.00 pm at St Peters, Marksbury with her cremation at 3.00 pm at Haycombe, Bath. Everyone is also welcome to join her family afterwards at Badger Cottage. A celebration of her life will take place in the summer.
So sorry to hear this news and thankyou to Lesley and Celeste for keeping us informed. I’m so glad to have met Hilary on our regular lunch meets in Bristol and she was such a vibrant and most elegant lady who seemed to make the very best of every day in spite of her illness. My thoughts are with her husband and family to whom she was clearly devoted as she talked so fondly of them all.
Rest in peace Marmite. You will not be forgotten.
Much love,
Anne xxx
Well - we only met up a few times, but as seems to be usual for those of us in the secondary/regional recurrence group, we do seem to form quicker and deeper relationships, as we are all living under the same sword of damocles. Hilary had a great sense of humour and was thoroughly honest about her condition, I know she had prepared her children and grandchildren for the inevitable, in a way, which I know I wouldn’t be capable. Her family meant a great deal to her, so I’m glad she was surrounded by many of them when she died. A really warm woman, but with an air of ‘naughtiness’ about her.
Hilary always looked good, in a thoroughly cool kind of way, even when she was really ill.
She was totally committed to the Bristol group, and we to her - she will be an enormous loss.
I shall miss you a great deal Hilary, as I’m sure all who knew you will too.
