hi mabel, yes Steve Johnston is my consultant - but at the Sutton branch of the Marsden. He is certainly considered one of the leading lights in the treatment of bc - particulary secondaries. You will be in good hands. One of the girls on bcpals is also seeing him on 15th.

Hi All
Is the Marsden a private hospital?
Cecelia. x
No cecelia - the Royal Marsden Hospital is an NHS specialist Cancer hospital with branches at Fulham Road in London, and also in Sutton, Surrey.

Dr Johnston sees both private and NHS at the Marsden. He is also my onc and certainly seems to know what he’s doing. He is quite influenced by treatment carried out in the states and I believe is very up-to-date on whats new. I’ve just had my first of 4x AC and then will have 4x Taxol at the Royal Marsden and all of the staff seem very nice and helpful. Back for No. 2 next Wednesday - help! As Dawn says you’ll be in good hands.x
Dr Johnston is indeed very knowledgable!
The good news for me was that he feels I have had the best trement available so far, and he agrees with my current hormonal treatment, for as long as it works.
Dr Johnston told me he has a special interest in IBC, which is jsut fantastic news for me. He was very thorough, has ordered several tests to re stage me and expalined we have a couple of options suitable still in our armoury.
The bad news, though not surprising, is that he classes my scar nodules as a second recurrence. Hopefully all the scans ordered over the next two weeks will prove there is no spread.
Best Wishes,
Mabel
