hi I am due to have a mastectomy at the end of the month and have been given LOTS of different options and am very confused! Has anyone else struggled to decide which option to take!?
Hi, when you say confusion/options do you mean either have a lumpectomy or mastectomy. If so I was given the same choice. I decided to opt for mastectomy as I have small breasts and surgeon said they would have to take away 25% of them for a lumpectomy! Also thought mastectomy would save me having week of radiotherapy. I havent regretted my decision but I think if I had larger boobs a lumpectomy would not have been so noticable so I would have opted for that. I know I am making it sound simple but it really wasnt I had lots of sleepless nights trying to make the decision xx
Hi Claire, are your options related to reconstruction or the type of mx? I had an immediate implant recon which had to be removed during chemo because of infection. Then went through huge decision of another implant, diep or ld flap. I’ve gone for implant as still leaves the other options open!
