Hi
I had DCIS in 2008 and had a mastectomy. I then had a preventative mastectomy in 2010.
Unfortunately neither side is right and my cancer specialist agrees, so both have to be ‘replaced’, but I don’t know what is the best option.
I can have silicone implants, or plastic surgery. I do know I cannot live with the constant discomfort and pain as I am at the moment but will the new surgery mean I don’t have pain every day??
Bumping this so someone can help you x
hi, i read your thread and have thought about replying to you but my experience hasnt been a pleasant one, but thought a bit of honesty was prob best. I too, had dcis and had a mastectomy with an ld flap recon. 3 times my body rejected the implant but in november i had it put in for the last time and (fingers crossed|) it has stayed…but … I hate it!! the shape is wrong, it looks like i have 2 boobs, one high, where the implant is and one lower (for some bizarre reason) whether this is because i have rather large boobs, im a 38dd, i dont know but im really unhappy with it.I see my specialist next month and am going to be ask to be referred to see a plastic surgeon.
i hope you make the right decision for you and my only advise is to ask lots of questions!
best of luck
