Hi
I had a left side mx with immediate DIEP reconstruction in November. It is a big operation but well worth it. I am delighted with the result. Happy to answer any questions.

Hi Reluctantrose
I am also due to have a mastectomy and reconstruction at about the same time as you although I haven’t got a date yet, I am hoping to know on Tuesday. Scary isn’t it? Which recon are you having? I am going for the tummy one. Feel free to pm me.

hi
i had mx and immeadiate recon last march, good luck with yours.
Hi Reluctantrose, I had mine done last Thursday 12th January as an LD flap with silicone and saline implants.
I was very anxious about it, as the first time i had had any surgery was last August when I had a WLE and lymph nodes removed, only to find I had DCIS and needed a mastectomy, chemo & radiotherapy.
I have been extremely lucky with all my treatment, and this includes last week’s surgery. I expected to be in a lot of pain, particularly with a scar across my back as well for the back muscles. This has not happened and I have been pain free so far, just taking paracetomol as a precaution, and the anti-inflammatories the hospital prescribed. I would say that all I had was mild discomfort, and within a day it all went numb, which is fine and normal. I was allowed to come home on Monday.
Obviously everyone is different but I hope your experience will be like mine. Do you know what type of reconstruction you are having? If you have any questions, please ask. Good luck, Sue
