May 2017 chemo starters

Eww hedgehogging, at least I’ll know what it is now if it happens to me Mai7. Have been told I have good veins but not sure how they’ll hold up to 12 weeks of paclitaxel

MJK - picked up my cancer busting coleslaw and melon on my half hour walk today. It’s through a park and pond with geese, ducks, herons etc, enjoying watching all the baby birds getting bigger each time I walk round, tbh didn’t even realise it was there before. One of the upsides to being at home.

Treehouse - I’m sure just looking after kids is enough exercise without doing anything else. Just thinking about having young children to look after makes me feel tired. What’s the solar oil for again?

WolfEE - I feel for you, I think it’s harder when your boss is understanding because you don’t want to let them down but really have to put yourself first. The whole sick pay/ holiday, how long is all going to take is worrying me too. Although I can work from home I’m not sure how it will work on weekly infusions so rang my boss today to say I’ll be off sick until Sept and ended up saying I’ll see how it goes!!

Am now going into the office on Tues. (Yikes I’ll have to get on a train) to discuss it all face to face

Mai!!!
You get the brave girl award for today. Sorry that is proper minging. ? I really don’t think I would cope with that.
Definitely one for the ? pile.
Work for me would be impossible. My head of department is actually my husband and the big boss is being very understanding.
They are employing some one to cover me for now and are planning a phased return after surgery…whenever that is.

Rosie65, yep the all important phone call convo planned in your head and before you know it your saying the words - I’ll see how I feel, maybe let’s see how it goes!!! Yep I know that well.
Train - scary train. If it was winter we could wear gloves, masks covered by a scarf and protect ourselves without people seeing our weird behaviour but summer time and leather gloves and big scarf covering a face mask wound stick out ?

If you need to use the train perhaps an off-peek so less people and find a carriage that is quite and wip out the anti bac detol spray it can go on fabrics (the seats) and uncomfortable but put on some gloves?? It is embarrassing but better people think you have an OCD problem than getting a virus!!

Saying that taxis have lots of traffic people getting in and out and I wouldn’t have thought twice about using. It’s our fear and paranoia it takes over.

WolfEE, I’m thinking of wearing plastic gloves!! and will be armed with anti bacterial spray and wipes. Will def go off peak and told him I can’t stay long as I need to leave before people come out of the offices. Also wanted to know who will be in the office and whether they/ their children have been ill. He suggested going for a coffe and I was like but there will be people in there. Perhaps when he sees how much I’ve changed he’ll think a period off sick is a good idea

treehouse, sounds like you have the perfect arrangement!!

Poor Trish you really are suffering this rounds aren’t you . Bifor hugs xx

One very big brave badge to Mai7 , I really don’t think I could have managed that! If if hear those words I’m out of there lol ! Xx

Enjoy your weekend ladies! Hubby is taking me out tonight for tapas before I start my weekly Pacitaxol on Wednesday, might even have a cheeky sangria! !! Xx

Should say big hugs Trish sorry, stupid predictive txt xx

Can’t you ring chemo line trisha and ask where you can get hold of it ?

Trisha69, I’m so sorry I wish there was something I could do and take this away from you. It has been going on far 2 long.
There must be something they can give you it’s not fair continuing like this.
Have you tried your GP? Perhaps if the hospital / help line can’t get you sorted over the weekend try your doctors surgery Monday morning.
Try and not get 2 down sweetheart I know it’s getting you down there is only so long you can tollorate this but you’ve got a bit more in you yet xxxxxxx

Trish I am feeling for you and sending any positive healing waves. Try to eat high protein and lots of vitamins . If you are getting run down and exhausted your body can’t heal. Phone the help line…this is too much.

Solar oil is for cuticles and nails

By vitamins I mean fresh fruit and vegetables. Not supplements

My sister is coming down with a cold. How have you guys managed family members you live with becoming sick? She is thereatening 2 move for a while but that’s not practical out but I don’t think I could stand being on my own.
My next chemo is Monday. X

We have 4 kids at 4 different schools. They have not been proper ill but a few sniffs and sore throats. I don’t cuddle or kiss if snotty so lots of air hugs. Also I have a vapourisor and Thieves oil which is supposed to get rid of air bourn bugs. I use it for 15 min to clear the house and open windows. Fingers crossed I have been fine so far.

Thanks Treehouse, I’m on amazon now and have found some vaporisers for around £15 that’s fine but all the Theives oils are around £30. Is this how much it normally is? I’m trying 2 find some with prime delivery so I can have it tomorrow. Anything is worth a try and it does sound good can’t do any harm that’s for sure.
Wound boots, Tescos sell the oil. I can’t see it on holland and barret web site.
X

Found some for £12.55 prime delivery but email confirmation saying delivery Monday. Vaporiser will be delivered tomorrow. Fingers crossed I can avoid catching her cold b4 Monday (chemo day) I’d hate for it 2 be delayed.

Mine is immunity protective blend. I also got soap by living young . Hubby doesn’t like it ,says it smells like mulled wine ?. I think it’s festive. Clove oil in it I think.
It is strong stuff so don’t get neat oil on your skin.

Glad your healing mai7 but I bet the itch is irritating. The detoll spray is everywhere we have a few cans because our coop had on offer although the offer has ended now gutted really could have done with another shelf clearance.
I love Xmas king of smells this theives stuff has cinnamon in I think that must be what the festive smell comes from I’ll check out the soap.
I’ll have 2 be carful not burning the oil around 5 days ish after treatment that’s the point my smell becomes a nightmare and I don’t want 2 put off it. I have high hopes for it. ???

I don’t use it all the time, only when I remember, when I am paranoid or when kids have lurgi.
I completely agree with the hypersensitivity with smell.

Glad you are healing well Mai. Itching is annoying, do you have lots of little scabs where your hedgehog lost his spines? (no hedgehog emoji!!!)

Mai7, yeah I saw that about the plague I spent ages reading in the end all about the oil, then the plague and then Victorian Medicean, then how they all had lead in wallpaper … how did we live without google can you imagine a question popping in your head having 2 wait for the library 2 open and then hunt through shelves and hope the book you pick has the answer!!!
One thing I didn’t look up was the ?I’m trying not but my fingers are itching !!!

Interesting so soy could actually be good? I’ve stopped my protein shakes they had high concentrated amounts of soy. I’ve created my own recepie that is: almond milk, raw organic pure coco powder, organic cinnamon, hemp protein (or pea protein) a date, banana and a splash of vanilla essence. It does taste a bit ‘garden’ but is fairly nice and an ok substitute however mixing it is not as quick and convinient as my previous powders.
I’m not really following my diet (hence my two stone weight gain already) however after treatment when I’m back at work etc I will crack down and go back to shakes for breakfast and lunch. At the moment I eat partly boredom and partly because I crave carbs and sharp tasting sweets and ice creams!!

I think I will relax a little and have foods that contain soy and maybe stop scanning ingredients but I will not have the highly concentrated amount of soy doing in shakes etc.

Also I Havant cut out dairy (one of my cravings is cheese) however I try and use almond milk at at home and Havant had yogurts. Is there a dairy and soy free etc yogurt that you’ve found and is nice ??

I’ve been reading ‘Foods to fight cancer’ by Beliveau and Gingras. The big problem is with soy extracts and isoflavone supplements as they contain far higher quantities than in a whole food. The whole food itself consumed in moderate amounts, as consumed in the Asian diet, reduces the risk. ?As for cheese, I’m worse than a mouse ?. So I’ve gone for organic grass fed rather than give it up. X
