Thank you @jaa2019 and @trishap1. I’ll try antihistamines tonight (they said I’m allowed loratidine which I normally take.) and will ask for meds on Friday when I’m next in.
I had 1st Paclitaxel going through unbearable pains the day after 1st filgrastim. Seems Pac makes it worse. I take loratidine for the bone pain from it.
Hi. Ladies, well an update from me, all change this week! Had my pac call a week early due to bank holiday, also had my breast surgeon meeting for results of last MRI and surgery decision. In a nutshell, as I now have low haemoglobin and neuropathy in my foot I won’t be having my last chemo next week, I’m done!! The surgeon is happy with that, as my tumour has shrunk so chemo has done its job! I can’t quite believe, no steroids, no anti sickness and so pleased with no tummy jabs
I will be having my picc line taken out next week and just having ongoing phesgo unless treatment has to change with surgery biopsy results. Wishing you all well with your own journey’s x
Had my 8th and last round of chemo today! Surgery provisionally booked in a month, will also need radiotherapy to lymph nodes. All going well, can see the end in sight even with needing hormonal treatment for a few years.
Menopausal symptoms to look forward to ![]()
@sassy3 so pleased to hear you have come to the end of chemo and it has done its job! I am hoping my last one will be next Monday. Wishing you the all the best for your surgery hope it goes well x
@jb76 congrats on finishing your chemo and wishing you all the best for your surgery next month. Hope it all goes well. I have my final chemo on Monday and as have already had surgery am on to radiotherapy next. We’re all finally getting there x
Thank you for your good wishes! All the very best to you too! X
Hello everyone I hope you’re all doing ok and now finished chemo or close to the end. I had my 8th and final session yesterday after a week’s delay due to low neutrophils but all done now. However it felt quite strange saying goodbye to the staff on the chemo unit. Radiotherapy due to start at end of September. All I want for Christmas this year is even the tiniest bit of hair🤣!! Good luck to you all for whatever treatment you will be having next. What a year 2025 has been for us all but this group and the wider forum have been a great source of support. Sending love and hugs to you all x
Well, thats me finished chemo too. Its been brutal and i hope to never do it again!!! I start Radiotherapy in 23rd (15 rounds) and had my planbing session on Monday. Unexpectedly, i got really upset and cried at exposing my boob (non-nipple sparing mastectomy) as no one other than my husband and surgeon have seen it. . The staff were fantastic though and very caring. Made it marginally easier. Ive found the body image changes so hard and speaking eith a therapist now. Hoping that this will be the final hurdle. Fingers crossed and wishing everyone tge very best outcomes xxxx
Hi ladies, so glad to hear that everyone is getting on ok and that for some treatment journeys are nearing the end. Is anyone planning on doing anything nice when they finish?
I have also now finished chemo
. I was so looking forward to finishing but then when I finished it felt like an anticlimax and have been feeling quite flat. Anyone else experienced this?
So I have my RT planning appointment next week. I am having two weeks of RT - three weeks is being condensed to one week at a higher dose, plus an additional week focusing on the surgery site as it was close to the skin. I have to say I’m really nervous about the prep CT scan, it seems my anxiety levels have also escalated since finishing chemo
.
@susan510 I hear you on the hoping for a bit of hair for Christmas. I really want my eyelashes to grow back and they will be at the top of my Santa list this year.
@trishap1 sorry to hear about how upsetting it was for you at your RT planning session. Remember you are beautiful and these are your warrior scars.
I hope everyone is doing well. X x
Hi @trishap1 and @sunflower9. Glad to hear you’re both finished chemo too but sorry to hear about your upsetting RT planning session @trishap1. Chemo was certainly a brutal experience and not one I’d want to go through again. And yes know what you mean about how it felt at the end. I just felt a bit tearful rather than joyful!! I suppose everything is now starting to catch up with us as I feel like life has just been on hold.
RT for me too next although I don’t think I will be starting until later in October. And then my consultant called yesterday to discuss my next treatments post RT. His proposal now is letrozole as discussed at the start for 7.5 years with six monthly bone infusions but adding in Ribociclib for 3 years as I have a high risk of recurrence. Has anyone else been offered this I think it’s newish and see there is another thread about it on the forum??
In terms of something nice I’m told I can start swimming again in a couple of weeks before RT can’t wait. Just need to get a swim cap to cover the bald head ![]()
xx
Oh we’re you not allowed to swim during chemo. I’ve been swimming all throughout. I was thinking it’s probably a bit risky with white blood cells being low, but I thought well as long as I don’t have cuts and dry myself properly and moisturise I’ll be fine. And so I am so far.
Has everyone already finished their chemo? I’m still on it till end of October. Starting to think now about what radiotherapy will be like.
I have my last chemo on Tuesday, then my radio planning meeting on Friday, a whole week of no hospital appointments(hooray!) and radio starts on 29th September. My oncologist has said to go on holiday then we start the hormone therapy with 6 monthly bone strengthening injections
Ah amazing! My guys said I can go on hols in November too yay
Hi how is everyone doing? Hoping more of us are at the end of chemo now or close to it. How is radiotherapy going for those who have started? I had my planning meeting on Monday but have to wait 4-5 weeks before it gets started. Although tbh nice to have some time to recover post chemo. For those planning holidays hope you’re off somewhere nice. If I have a break in treatment now I’m going to see if I can get away!!
Hi ladies can I ask what bras you wore after surgery? I ordered some off Amazon but they have no support so returning them.
Hi everyone, @susan501 glad that you have a date insight for radiotherapy and I hope that you manage to get away on a well deserved break.
@maystart25 I purchased post surgery bras from M&S which I have found to be really nice and comfortable.
I am due to start RT on the 9th October so have been trying to get out walking in the sunshine. This is certainly helping with my mental health and fatigue. I have started Tamoxifen and bracing myself for side effects of those. My hair is now starting to grow back but I still have no signs of my eyelashes returning
. I am really hoping for eyelashes for Christmas
. I hope everyone is doing well.
Thanks @sunflower9 I’ll go on and have a look tonight.
I finished my chemo on 4th September, patiently waiting for my eyelashes to return as well. My hair is already about a cm long. I’m surprised how quickly it has come through.
Hi I just wore a sports bra from New Ballance with a zipped front, and also m&s zipped active bra. M&s also had a good choice of post op bras that you can try on in the shop. I personally preferred active wear bras.
