I have heard on here of some being left in for a time after treatment, although I’m not totally sure why, but all of the patients in my chemo unit with PICCs who I’ve seen finish treatment got theirs taken out that day.

Fingers crossed and glad it’s all going ahead! x

I think sometimes they’re left in if you need extra bloods done, transfusions or meds.

I was told yesterday they have no plans like this for me, so mine can be removed same day.

Hopefully most of us can have it removed same day too :blush:

I hope that everyone that has had chemo already this week are feeling ok and are not suffering to badly with the side effects.

@alannah172 @bea4 thank you for the heads up regarding the dental check up. I am meant to see my chemo onc mid October to discuss the bone strengthening drugs and the Inhibitor. No doubt he may spring that on my with not much notice…..if at all. I will try and book a check up for Oct…if I can. So sorry they dropped everything on you at the last minute @bea4 , at least you had your chemo. The other will have to keep! Not your fault. I hope you get your check up soon :crossed_fingers:

@alannah172 - I got a dental appt for 1.15 TODAY via my local NHS Emergency Dental Appointments line. Utterly brilliant service. I hope you can find something similar. It’ s not free, I’ ve been quoted between £16 -£60 depending. Free, I think, if you’ re receiving benefits and can prove it. It’s a drive away but lucky for me husband is available to chauffer me. For which eternal gratitude, he’ s a good ‘un. Have you got anywhere in your search for something?

Sorry, just overwhelmed with joy :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:. Left side sleeping here I come. Got slight phantom PICC syndrome where I havent quite learnt to ‘just do normal things” :rofl: and keep thinking it is there. :rofl: But thats OK. I just have to re learn new norms.

The tube came out easily. Couldnt feel a thing. They had abit of a tug of war with one side of the fish hooks that held it in place. But that was no worse than getting a splinter out of a finger.

Re …last chemo…I took in chocs and a card to staff. That was my bell ringing. :wink: Quiet, respectful and lovely smiles all round. Perfect. :grin:

No probs with infusion. Steroids for the next week. So fingers crossed this next week will be easier.

Just now..? Sleep :yawning_face::sleeping_face::person_in_bed: Pooped out, nodding off sitting up :rofl::rofl::rofl:

So glad you’ve had a more positive day! Me too, I went to a lovely NT property near me, had a lovely wander around the arts and crafts garden and parts of the house dated back to the 1300s :flushed_face::flushed_face::flushed_face: stunning!!

@poppy261 BIG WHOOP to you too, fabulous about the Picc coming out….such a good feeling.:two_hearts: I got the occasional phantom picc pain for a few days….where the sticky fixers held it in place. Hopefully you won’t. Enjoy your Picc freedom and your bath/shower tomorrow without your cover on!

Hope you have a restful evening and that the steroids don’t keep you up all night. Hopefully your last dose will be kinder to you. :hugs: :flexed_biceps:

Re treats….the first is “sleeping without PICC​:person_in_bed:…such bliss.

Then showering without PICC :person_taking_bath:…cant wait.

Next…wearing normal clothes. OMG. How wonderful. :grin::woman_dancing::piñata:

The others, days out, are on hold for the week, due to side effects, and not being able to drive. But after 4months, a week seems like a drop in the Ocean.:wink:

Sadly my taste buds are still somewhere on holiday, so I cant taste deserts/cakes/choc, so those treats are on my waiting list :rofl::smiling_face_with_three_hearts:. But have bought myself nice savories to munch on. :avocado::kiwi_fruit::tangerine::mango::stuffed_flatbread::shallow_pan_of_food::pot_of_food:

Will be counting my scull top hairs, for anticipated re growth. Not trying to hurry them…but….:rofl::rofl: Pac even took my peach fluff :scream::person_bald:. Will it be grey, curly, straight. How exciting. :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:. Bit like a lucky dip for hairs.

Not having side effects will be a joy. Sensibly, not expecting a quick recovery, after being so pummelled, but thats fine, just small gains are a bonus.

Glad you got to the NT site @alannah172 . :heart::people_hugging: That must have been great. Such a good idea to renew that membership. :fountain::teapot::shortcake:

I know we still have a long way to go, but small gains are what I will be focussing on. Bite sized steps to normality. :people_hugging::heart::smiling_face_with_three_hearts::woman_dancing:

Ive ticked the chemo box :white_check_mark:. That is an Everest Run in a Blizzard :snow_capped_mountain::person_running:. But the flag is standing strong. :united_kingdom::musical_notes::musical_note:

PICC is gone. Chemo is done!! Omg how crazy is that?! Been a whirlwind of 4.5 months. If you think of all emotions that go with it, I’ve had it. Never ever thought I’d get to the end. Been quiet on here but it’s helped me seeing you all sharing your side effects and stories on here. So a big shoutout to all of you strong women. Wishing everyone well with the remaining sessions.

Having 5 sessions of radiotherapy in October sometime then onto hormone therapy and target therapy tablets.

Anyone have anything to share about radio to the axilla instead of clearance? And the target therapy tablets?

So pleased you have reached the end of your whirlwind. @maystarter :tornado:. Hopefully the next stage will be more gentle breezes. :wind_face: We surely need them.

My Radio starts in 3-5 weeks. It includes lymphs which have cancer. I did have 5 removed during chemo, mainly to see how they were. But all 5 had cancer. Then more in my neck showed up after that.

I have Lobular “sneaky” Breast Cancer which doesnt show up so well on mammograms. So it sneaked everywhere.

I will be interested to “feel” the difference between removal and radio. Removal is not an easy option, it does create pain, stiffness, and other things. Depending on how our bodies cope. Im hoping the radio is less of a problem.

I start Hormone blockers on 14th Sept. So I will keep everyone updated with my journey in the hope it helps others on here. :heart:

Hope, after grim side effect week, you get to do some lovely things. :heart::sparkling_heart:Until then, enjoy having no PICC. That is a huge milestone in our journey. I am sooo happy mine has gone. :heart::heart::heart::heart::people_hugging::people_hugging:
