Media Work Hi all just wanted to share my news with you all I applied to Breast Cancer Care to do media work as I want to make other young women like myself more aware that they can get breast cancer. Since appling I have had a few phone calls and they have asked me to be in a programme about the health care in the UK they are comparing it to the health care in America. Think I am being interviewed on the 18th of this month and am abit nervous as I hope I dont mess up or say the wrong thing. I have only been on the TV once and that was in Romania ont he news and I was sooooooooooooooooooo embaressed then.
Well just wanted to share my news with you all.

i am not a young woman but when i was first diagnosed and came on the chat site you were so helpful and supportive , i just know you will walk it .

Well done you!

I’m also a media volunteer for BCC and have done some magazine and TV features. BCC have always looked after me really well and all I can say is be yourself. All the interviewrs I have had have been really nice - ENJOY! BCC run a day’s media training that is great if you get the chance to go.

Rads Hi Lisa,
I went today for my planning opp and all went well I was a bit scared but it was fine I will start rads on the 20th of June for 5 weeks.

How funny I went for my planning opp today as well, start mine on the 26th for 4 weeks.
Really well now I’ve finished the dreaded chemo! Hope you are to, have you given up yet?

Hope all goes well with the rads it is so nice we have both finished chemo.
If you are referring to giving up smoking then no I still havent have you??? I am going to the chemist today to get the chewing gum and an inhaler to help me give up. I jhave been told I will need to stop for the rads as it can damage the lung area and I will be prone to chest infections otherwise.
Are you going to try to stop if you are still smoking it is so hard to give up when we are going through so much I am so disscused with myself for not stopping you never think u will get cancer and then when u do you think you would do everything and anything to stop it from coming back but then I carry on smoking.
Oh well I will have to be strong and stop.

Me neither I’ve promised my husband I’ll give up before rads, he gave up halfway thro my chemo and has done really well. We’ll have to support each other when it gets tough, maybe we can pm on the other site?

We must finish rads at the same time. Have you spoken to anyone from the “Smiley bottom” weekend, I thought someone was going to organise a reunion in the summer it would be nice to get together especially as we will have something to celebrate.
