Hi, I’m new to this forum and was wanting to meet other younger people in my area.
I was diagnosed at the end of last year at 32, I was 10 weeks pregnant. I finished my chemo in April, had an amazing baby boy and two weeks later started radiotherapy. Now im on tamoxifen and am waiting my first follow up appointment.
Its been a whirlwind over the last 10 months as im sure it is for everyone else and although I have amazing support from all my friends and family I feel that it would be nice to meet others.
I had my treatment at St Lukes in Guildford but was wondering if there are any support groups for younger people in the Guildford/Farnborough/Fleet area?
Not really sure if I still fit into the younger person bracket at 45, but I live in Camberley and am having my treatment at St Lukes, although this has been put on hold for now as I had to have one of my wounds re-opened last week due to infection and have to wait for this to heal before I can restart the radiotherapy.
It would be good to be in contact with people in the local area
I am 30 and I am having my chemo at Mt alvernia, guildford. I am almost half way through and would love to meet up with other ladies for support, laughs and cake! PM me if you want to arrange something.
Having surgery next week though - bilateral mastectomy with full axillary clearance, so not sure how long it takes to recover. Don’t think I can drive for a while, but the train wil be fine, but may well have to miss first meeting and just hope you’ll have a second and be willing to share your cake with me!
I normally shy away from support groups & on line communities- but anyone who counts me as young and mentions cake always gets my attention.
I live in Farnham & also having treatment at St Lukes- I thought I was almost done chemo, mascectomy and 25 of my 28 radio all done- and now they have hit me with more scans.
Let me know if you arrange a meet up - have a fun weekend allx
Sorry I haven’t responded till now, just finding the time to log on!
I usually shy away from these things too but just felt that I needed to meet up with other people who kind of understand what you have been/or going through.
Im hopeless at organising things so not sure what anyone suggests doing? It might be nice to meet up somewhere in the middle? I know that everyone is at different stages of their treatment or may not find it as easy to meet up as others? Personally I am on maternity leave (makes a change from sick leave!) so am pretty much around anytime day or night.
Any suggestions ladies? and should i post this in the “meeting people in your area” forum?
Sandytoes - I hope that if you have had your surgery you are recovering well? Im sorry I didn’t get to wish you luck before now! Let us know how you are getting on, sending lots of positive speedy recovery vibes your way!
I’m happy to organise if you’re all happy to wait for a couple of weeks while I recuperate? If so, how about you PM me your email addresses and then we can work out when’s best as some people will be on different chemo timetables.
Otherwise I’ll just join in with the second meeting!
Sandytoes - Well I’m glad I caught you before wed - the best of luck!
I look forward to meeting up then, hopefully when you are feeling better. x
Ladies, I will post again in one of the other forums but lets arrange a get together sooner rather than later if we can. Perhaps Guildford way if that seems like its more central.
