Menstrual Cycle & Chemo??

Sorry if this is a bit TMI but would anyone mind sharing their experience with periods through chemo.

I thought (and hoped) they would stop completely but they havent, they are quite irratic and weird. Came on for couple of days only couple of weeks ago (cycle day 22 normally 28 day girl) now i seem to be having another one but mild spotting and cramps only.

Hi Clare,

Not TMI at all! Have bumped up a thread I started about periods before and after chemo which may interest you. Mine faltered on Fec, stopped after my first taxotere completely and havent returned to date, 15 months after I finished chemo. I was 36 at Dx and am on tamoxifen.

All the best xxx

Mine disappeared after FEC 2 and because I’m quite old have not returned as yet. I have had a few regular twinges like there is something going on down there but nothing has happened. It’s a nuisance not knowing when they are due.

Hi
Mine have gone weird as well and I haven’t started chemo!
I have been about a 24-25 day girl then in Sept I suddenly went 6 weeks (did have a little panic). It was 2 days after that period that I found my lump and I haven’t had a period since even though I’ve been having period like pains.
I’m 46 and was just starting to have some menopausal symptoms (night sweats, mood swings (OH says I’ve always had them), warm flushes).
I would be interested if anyone else has had similar experiences. Probably down to stress like everything else!

Hi Clare
mine have become quite erratic and different now. they used to be between 28-30 days and now they come whenever they fancy. Sometimes every 20 days, sometimes 30 and a few times 60 days - very strange. I was given Zoladex to switch off my ovaries during chemo and once I’d finished chemo, my periods came back about 6 months later. Our bodies have been mucked around with so much it’s not surprising.
