Message for Cherryred Hi Cherry

Just thought I would say hello.

How have you found being back at work, can’t remember do you work fulltime?

I’ve been working extra hours since Easter due to re-organisation and redundancy and i’m not sure I like it,i’m starting to feel there should be more to life than this, so i’m wondering about looking for something different with less hours, can’t afford not to work at all though unfortunately.

I’ve got the day off today though so intend to make the most of a long weekend especially as they are promising sunshine!!

Hope alls well with you and yours, have a lovely weekend.

Lesley xx

Hi Lesley Really lovely to hear from you -was beginning to feel quite abandonded! How did Easter in Leeds go?

I have been miserable madam of late -don’t know why, can’t put my finger on it but i suspect it’s because i have a mammo coming up on 8th May -yet more worry and consultant has just changed my follow up appointment to 2 weeks after that -so longer than I would like wait for the results.

The weather has been so nice and on Monday (30th) -I’m off to Ireland for the week. It was a planned trip for my mum’s birthday-which was organised before I went off for my oopherectomy. I’ve only been back at work a week and a half so I feel a bit bad about being off again -but hey ho.

Do you work for the great NHS by any chance??-we are a in the process of huge re-organsation once again-just keeping my head down! Are you working full time?
Have a lovely sunny week and I’ll check in why I get back.

I’ve been away I’ve been away from this darn computer and not away to some exotic clime, but have been thinking of you and just today have found the time and energy to post stuff on the other site which should allow me at last to respond to your pm of long ago. However i think i’ll have to wait until they give me the go ahead.

Good to hear you’re still around. I have had a miserable time since Xmas and could go into lots of detail about stuff but it’s too much of an effort. Just to say that today my GP had the results of my bone density scan which I had requested and even though I’m only 47 I have it bad in my femur and verging on it in my spine. Suffice to say I feel terrible. Anyway my GP is fantastic and she’s put me on a bisphosphonate which should help the condition. haven’t broken anything yet.
By the way I’m going nordic Walking in Reigate for the first time on Wed. It’s with a group and thought it would be good exercise. I know it’s a fad thing but thought I’d give it a go as I like walking in the countryside.

I really feel the need of some company with women who have this diagnosis. You don’t belong to a support group do you?

By the way the nhs thing is crazy isn’t it.? Are you having to learn about computerised patient records?

Anyway really good to see you’re still around

Frances

sorry Darby Darby, I was lying awake last night feeling bad that I had sent my message to Cherry on your personal posting. I’m so sorry.
Hope you’re having a good day.
Frances

Hi Girls… Frances - I’m so glad your’re still around,I’ve missed your posts. Just got back from Ireland today and thought I’d try to boot up the computer.
Not that it will make you feel any better Frances, but my bone density went down the tubes too and prof Smith put me on Fosamax - mercifully I don’t seem to have had any problems with it but I shall ask for another scan before I see him again. As you can probably see in my post to Lesley, I’ve been a real misery lately and can only put it down to the mammo looming, plus some other posts which have somewhat lowered my mood.
It probably shows my imense lack of knowlege on exercise -but what is nordic walking and how did you get involved-sounds like something I could psyche myself up to do!
I haven’t accessed the other site yet , so haven’t seen your post-I think you have to post 20 times before you have e-mail access- but I’m definately still up for coffee if you still want to? I’m back to work after the bank hol -but I’m sure we can sort something out.

Lesley -Hope your’re ok. Had a fantastic week in Ireland -only thought of the dreaded BC once or twice fleetingly - a real achievement for me!
Could not have improved on the weather.
Arrived home to a row with my son who wants the car tomorrow (he passed his driving test 2 weeks ago -17yrs 4mths) -so normality returns!!
How’s the running going?
Cherryxx

Hi Cherry Hi Cherry

Glad you have had a lovely time in Ireland and the weather has been good. I’ve just been pottering about this am doing a few jobs and keep thinking I will go for a run but keep putting it off!!

My time in Leeds was Fab, seems ages ago now.

I don’t work for the NHS although my sister does, shes a Nurse Practioner, I work as a receptionist at our local college.

When are you due for your mamogram?

Enjoy the rest of the bank holiday, although I don’t think the weather is up to much.

Take care

Lesley xx

Dont worry Hi Frances

Don’t worry about that.

Not having a bad day, been quite lazy really, it’s dull here I think I need the sunshine to motivate me!!!

Bye for now

Hi Lesley -you were right about the weather!-has deteriorated this morning-oh well we had a good run of fine weather so can’t complain.

My mammo is on tues -which is also my first day back at work,so feel a bit bad about having to leave early, but can’t be avoided. Flippin’ surgeon has postponed my follow up appt-so wont get mammo results for nearly 3 weeks. However, if it is the usual mammo radiographer I know I can coerce her into giving me an opinion about whether anything has changed. I know they’re not meant to “diagnose” and it’s with all the usual caveat’s-she’s not a doctor etc,etc and I fully accept she can be wrong-but last year she told me it didnt look significantly different to HER-and that got me through “the wait”.

What does your sister specialise in?
Cherry x

Frances… Forgot to ask… I was taking daily calcium supplements when I was started on bisphosphonates.I have run out now but forgot to ask whether I need to carry on with them -do you know??
Cherry

Hi Cherry, It’s lovely to read your post and I’ve pmed you on the other site. I am taking Fosamax now and I have been told to take two calcium supplements daily. I just hope it will help. I do wonder whether it’s due to the Chemo. The osteoporosis society says in one of it’s leaflets that Chemo can cause it but my consultant says it’s not Cancer related. Anyway I’ve been put in the High risk of fracture category I can’t quite believe I’ve got this to deal with too. I’m sorry to hear you’ve had this diagnosis too. I’ll get back to you on the other site.

Frances

Good Luck Hi Cherry

Just want to wish you good luck with your mamogram tomorrow.

Love Lesley x

How did it go? Hi Cherry, How did the Mammogram go? I hope they were able to reassure you. Frances

Thank -you girls… Had the mammo today. Po faced radiographer( who needs a refund from charm school) -so didn’t feel I would get anywhere asking her if films were different from last year. She made some slightly derisory comment about the smallness of my butchered boob as she had difficulty encourging it to stay on the xray plate -I gave her one of my famous withering looks.3 weeks to wait for result as surgeon has gone walk-abouts. Bracing myself for the 8:30 pm friday night phone-call (which is what happened on first mammo)!

Hope your’e both ok - Frances I’ve pm’d you on other site, but no-idea when you will be able to pick it up.
Lesley -It’s a pity your’re not closer -would love to meet up with you too.

Hi Hi Cherry

Glad you’ve got the the mamogram over and done with, i’ve got to organise one for my good boob next month.

I tried pm’ing you on other site at the weekend, i’ve had a lovely message back but not from you!! what’s your user name, i pm’d cherry?

Take care
love Lesley x

Hi Frances Hi

How have you got on with Fosamax, did you have any side effects?

Love Lesley x

I have to say my poor old boob feels a bit man handled (or should I say woman handled) today. How often are you seen Lesley? I’m still seen 6monthly -for mammo & surgeon, alternating with ONC .I think “shared care” is usual though I was speaking to an aquaintance today who is just seen in the breast unit, has her mammo and gets the results an hour later as she sees onc at same appt.-think I might explore a transfer when I next see ONC.

How’s your son’s driving lessons coming on? Mine passed his test a couple of weeks ago -so more stuff to worry about now!!
