Message for DilysP and Pauline

Hi

Sorry I haven’t posted on here for a while. I have found that what with work and getting ready for Christmas that I have been really busy. I have been thinking of you both though and have looked on here a few times to see if you have posted. I think you must have finished radiotherapy around now so I hope it all went well.

How’s the hair doing now? It must be growing by now. And what about your finger nails Dilys?

I just wanted to wish you both a happy Christmas and all the best for 2008.

Love Lollie x

Dear Lollie

How lovely to hear from you. I bet you have been busy. How is it being back at work? And how are you? I hope you are really well.

I am fine. Rads finished last Monday. No problems at all with that. Just had herceptin number 6 today - also no problems. And have been on Arimidex for three weeks with no problem. So good all round really. My hair is slowly slowly reappearing but slowly is the word! Nails falling out apace on the other hand. But so what …am resigned to it.

How are you Lollie? I have missed you. And Pauline.

Have a brilliant Christmas and a very happy and healthy New Year.

Lots of love

Hi Dilys

I am glad everything is going so well for you. Just the herceptin and arimidex to do now which is good isn’t it. Once my hair started to grow it seem to grow quite quickly and is really thick now so hopefully yours will be the same. Also my nails are stronger now than they were before chemo!

I am enjoying my job and it has been nice to be back in the working environment. The people I work with are all so nice and have been so welcoming that I feel that I have settled in really quickly. I am off now until 2nd Jan so I have a nice long break over Christmas and New Year.

I hope Pauline is ok too. I often think of you both and hope things are going well for both of you.

Are you at home for Christmas? We have my father in law staying from Christmas Eve until next friday and all my chrildren will be over for Christmas day with their partners so it will be quite hectic I expect but fun too I hope.

Hope you have a lovely Christmas.

Lots of love.

Hi Lollie my love

I am worried about Pauline as I haven’t heard from her for ages. May be she has just decided to sign out of here. But great that you are good back at work. You so deserve it. How long did it take for your hair to come back? I finished taxotere at the end of October and it is still being very reticent. My head does itch though so I am hoping that is a good sign. Once I have hair I can go out in I shall be back working again.

Your Christmas sounds lovely. We are with my husband’s sister for Christmas Eve, with a niece and great nephew. Then we have Xmas Day and Boxing Bay to ourselves. And the Thursday with my step daughter and two grand-daughters - am soooo looking forward to that.

Just back from a lovely lunch with friends I knew from university. Realised that I have known them for 37 years. AARGH! Must be getting old. But so great to see them, and on their 33rd wedding anniversary too.

Much love dear Lollie, and have a really good Christmas

Hi Dilys

Sounds like you’ve got a lovely Christmas planned too with some time with family and some time to yourselves. Isn’t it nice meeting up with old friends. I have one friend who I have known all my life (48 years) and we meet for lunch every few weeks which is lovely.

I finished my chemo at the end of March and had my first hair cut on 16th April. I used the cold cap though so I was not completely bald. My hair was just very thin at the end of 8 cycles of chemo! I didn’t wear my wig again after April but my hair was still quite short for several months. When I look back at my holiday pics from August/September my hair was still a lot shorter then than it is now. I think you just need to be a bit patient and it will soon start to grow. I am hoping mine will soon be a bit straighter as it has grown back curly. The strange thing is that when I had straight hair I wanted it curly and now it is curly I want it straight again!

When Pauline posted last, I got the impression that she might not be on here for a while. It would be lovely to hear from her again though. I hope she is ok.

With love

Dear Lollie

You did do well with your hair, didn’t you? That seems very quick but as you say, you didn’t lose the lot. I did so may be it just takes longer. I don’t help by looking at my scalp every morning and evening! I will try to be patient - well, no choice really. At least everyone else is wearing hats and turbans etc in the weather so it doesn’t feel so odd. I want curly hair too! Someone told me that if it was straight in the first place it will eventually end up straight again. You could then perm it… Aren’t we contrary sometimes?

Have a lovely Christmas dear Lollie - and you too Pauline if you are out there

Much love
