Message from Chrissie

Hi all

I have had a text off Chrissie that she is back in bed after her op. I don’t suppose she will have any info as yet but if she does let me know anything I shall post it on here. I do hope she is okay.

Asked how she was feeling and she said “like poo”. That’s Chrissie for you.

Hi Liz

Hi Girls
Moved myself from chit chat and fun in the hope that someone may have some answers for me.
Brief history … Found lump, referred to breast clinic, had mammogram fine needle thingy and core biopsy. Went back for results to be told my lump was benign but they wanted to take it out for a further biopsy, the doc said it was a lymphoedema. Had the lump removed Thursday. Before the op the surgeon said it didn’t feel like a lymphoedema to him and it felt undefined. After the op he said he had been right and had taken surrounding tissue with it, then said I should prepare myself if the biopsy isn’t good news.
Has anyone else been in the same situation, and do you think the surgeon was just covering his arse? (if so I wish he hadn’t) Appointment in two weeks!
Chrissie

Sorry girls, I meant Fibroardenoma!

I had a so called fibroadenoma removed, it was breast cancer. I hadn’t been warned so I was very surprised

Hi Molennium
Do you mind me asking what treatment you went onto have?

Hi Liz
Just put my mug shot on facebook. Your turn!

I had segmental mastectomy as the lump was about 2 cm but had focal DCIS (pre-invasive cancer) around it. I had low grade cancer by the way. I then had radiotherapy - 15 sessions and was advised to take tamoxifen for five years which I gave up after 2.5 years

I am now 52 - 53 in two weeks and I still haven’t gone through the menopause wish I had

Mole

I’m hoping I’ve been lucky, not a normal thing to say on this forum. I went for my first routine mammogram, no lumps or other symptoms. Had a WLE and a wire inserted to find the tumour. Turned out to be grade 3 and in 2 lymph nodes. Sooooo I hope I’ve been diagnosed in time. Going for further excision, chemo and radiotherapy. Am very scared

Jillyh, fingers crossed for you hunny. xxx

Thanks Mole, just goes to show these lumps have to be removed.
My scar seems neat and there is less bruising than after the core biopsy. Looks like it’s healing really well.
Jilly, Best of luck to you, it’s the waiting that rips you apart isn’t it. Let me know how you get on.

Changed my dressing last night. Isn’t that 2nd skin stuff weird.
Today I woke bright as a button, cleaned the house from top to bottom (It’s a big house) Now waiting for my friend to come over, pick me up in my glad rags and whisk me off to the pub. Nobs mum called me this morning whom I very fond off and wanted to know what had gone wrong with us. Didn’t have the heart to tell her what an arse her only son is so just said It didn’t work out. Not her fault as he was in boarding school since he was 5 and she felt he was having the best upbringing money could buy.
Anyway, hope you are all having a lovely day.

  • Just been on a bike ride down to tescos where I bought 16 pts of milk, two lbs of potatoes, 1 lb of tomotoes and various sundries and transported them in my paniers four miles home. now completely knackered but not bad for a cancer victim eh five years down the line? Lance Armstrong eat your heart out

Mole

Wow Mole, how on earth did you manage to balance? I would have been wobbling down the road. I’ve sailed for years and my balance is still dreadful.
My friend turned up at 1 armed with wine and flowers and I had completely forgot that my new potential lodger was arriving to view the room so when she arrived it was a mad scrabble to hide wine bottles and half filled glasses. Not sure she’d fit in, didn’t seem to have a sense of humour which I would find difficult to live with. Once she was gone we went over the pub for lunch and had a brilliant laugh. I was exhausted by the time she left and was in bed by 7. Nothing like climbing into a bottle to avoid thinking about test results, trouble is I woke up at 4 worrying.
After my core biopsy the results were back within a week, now I have to wait two weeks. Do you think they may know the results sooner and do you think my GP could get hold of them any quicker?
Decided that if I get the all clear I shall go and book a holiday for me and my girls for next year. Even though we are skint once it’s booked we’ll manage somehow. My son works for sunsail in Turkey and he gets family discount although they are expensive to start with. I really do miss him, he worked for a ski company in the French Alps from last November, came home for two weeks in April before flying to Turkey where he’ll be till November, back for two days then off to Austria for the winter season. He’s only 19 and I’m really proud of him! Well I suppose I should go back to bed now.

Hi Chrissie - I’m back !

You were up early and hope you got back to sleep.

I hope these 2 weeks goes fast for you. I don’t think they will tell you anything before that as the biopsy takes times. My fingers are crossed for you.

Mole - you put me to shame - I’m 53 and don’t think I could get on a bike never mind ride it and with all that extra too !!

Sorry that your intended lodger not up to scratch Chrissie - maybe I should take the room !!!

Take care and look after yourself. do you have an actual date to go back for results. My breast nurse came round with mine .

Hi Liz
Sooooooo Nice to have you back. Feeling fresh are we?
Well… Called my doc this morning and guess what? Biopsy results end up with him usually before your appointment. I had remembered that with the core biopsy results that took a week, he told me that he had them through 2 days before my appointment and had tried to call me but only had my old number from years back. As I now have to wait 2 weeks (Which I expect is so he can also check that my boob has healed) I asked my my doc if he can call me as soon as he gets them through and he said he would.
Remembered to give him new number and my mobile. Even if it takes a few days off the wait it will be worth it.
Soooooooo I need cheap holiday destinations outside the UK, any ideas???

Well that’s good - I had never thought about asking GP for results as didn’t realise they got them. When I worked for GP the only time we got to know anything was from the clinic letter the consultant would dictate after patient’s clinic appointment. Times have changed !

You need to get a holiday booked - something to look forward to. My dad had booked a holiday for him, me and my auntie to go to Cyprus the week before I got recalled for mammogram. Luckily I have an annual insurance policy so he got his money back because he hadn’t taken out any insurance when he booked it. They still went but my consultant wouldn’t delay op so that I could go.

I pray that the news isn’t good but as you say, you wish he hadn’t said that to you and feel that he should have kept his thoughts to himself. But you have to steal yourself ready for the news and it’s a bloody big bonus if it’s good news.

My friend who I was with at the weekend has quite a few friends in different countries and makes use of them !! In fact she went to a christening yesterday after I left and the couple of an apartment in Turkey so there is an open invitation for her (and whoever) !!

Clare really enjoyed her holiday and was on the computer last night checking prices for next year. As you say whatever it costs you will find the money and it will be well worth it.

I suppose I had better get on - I go to the Cancerhelp place sometimes on a Monday morning and haven’t been for a few weeks. I have made some lovely friends there and then I have my 8th Herceptin this afternoon - 8 down 9 to go - that sounds good - nearly half way.

Lots of love xxxx

Hi Liz
