Micro Calcification's - ? Breast Cancer Again?

Hi Everyone

I had breast cancer 5 years ago and went through surgery, chemo & radiotherapy.

After one of my annual mammograms I was called back for a biopsy as they had seen micro calcification’s in my other breast.

I had this done this week  ( it took 3 hours to get the sample) so I was quite distressed at the time.  I get my results next week.

I am afraid that I have gone in to melt down again as worried that I have cancer again.

Has anyone had this happen to them?

Does anyone know how likely this is to be cancer again.

I am 45

Thanks

Hi Tippy

I didn’t just want to read and run, I am sorry you are having to go through all of this again. I don’t know what type of surgery you had, or if there were nodes affected, or whether you are having hormone tablet or not.  I can tell you my experience. After my chemo, I spoke to the radiologist about rads, which I didn’t want. I’d had mx, and 1 out of 3 nodes affected and vascular invasion. I asked what my risks of a recurrence were. She told me less than 20% in my chest and 50% in my remaining lymph nodes, for which I could have ANC. As you did have rads, hopefully that should make a difference too.  I hope this helps you a little bit.

In the end, I didn’t have rads but just went on to have Anastrazole.

Hoping for a good outcome for you.

Hi,

I too have had the same thing happen to me. Last week I had my first mammogram and they found something in my other breast which was very small but had to have a  biopsy on it. I have been told to come back on the 12th for result. You must feel just like me fed up with it again and hoping that we have nothing and will both be ok. Im afraid that the panic is on again.

I was a girl guide when I was young and as once a guide always a guide,  one of the Guide Laws is"A Guide sings and dances under all difficulties" which I am trying to do!

Anyway good luck
