Hi Guys, not logged on for a while but have an appointment with my Plastic Surgeon in November - its a Mrs Austin and she works for Mid Yorkshire Trust.
I’ve not heard of her before but my oncologist assures me that she is one of the best - (Mr Fourie on sabatical apparently overseas). I’m very nervous at even going for a recon appointment - want to make sure I ask all the right questions in order that I can make a decision as to whether I go ahead or not. I’m not completely sure I want to at this stage but am going to check things out.
I am very against the ‘using from back or stomach’ technique - not sure of correct names, as I have a nice back and stretchmark free, flat stomach, thankfully, so I don’t want to put any scars on these. I was looking at the expander implant as I only have a small breast anyway, or possibly I’ve heard they can no take fat from buttocks to use in reconstruction.
Has anyone (a) heard of Miss Austin and had experience of her work and (b) heard of the buttock fat being used in construction.
As ever, all your thoughts are really useful and this site really does help us all in coping with such a massive event in our lives.
I’m doing OK - still on checkups every 3 months, but so far all is well. Herceptin finished in March this year, after 4 months of chemo and 12 months of Herceptin, so I now feel like I am getting my life back to some form of normality. Have lost all the excess weight I put on with chemo/herc too (2 stones) and am feeling brill -
All your thoughts are really appreciated
Thanks again
Clemy X
