Missing a tamoxifen dose (or not)

Hello,

After three years of managing to take tamoxifen every day, I’ve finally confused myself this morning. What I *think* I’ve done is taken today’s pill and then accidentally opened another one, so I’ve got the one I should be taking tomorrow out of the packet as well by mistake. Suppose I’m wrong and I somehow haven’t taken today’s, I assume that missing one day’s dose is not going to make a massive amount of difference - I just feel anxious about it now …

Hello Bellis Coldwine,

Thanks for posting. It’s understandable to be anxious at the thought of missing a tamoxifen dose.

It might help to know some women will be advised to stop tamoxifen for a couple of weeks ahead of periods of reduced activity (such as upcoming surgery) or longer if they need a break from side effects, so missing one dose won’t make a difference to the  overall effect.
