Hi,
I had a single mastectomy 16 days ago due to being diagnosed with Breast Cancer. Now my dressings are off, the area around my scar is really dry. Is there any moisturiser that is recommended to use on the area and scar? The skin is really flakey around the scar

Hi cornwall1234
Thanks for your post asking if there are any particular moisturisers recommended to use on the area around your wound and scar following a mastectomy, as the skin around the area is very dry.
Skin can often be very dry when the dressing is removed. You can use any emollient cream or oil on the skin around the area. Your local pharmacist may be able to suggest one.
Your treatment team should be able to tell you when you can start moisturising your scar area, this is usually once your scar has started to heal and no longer feels sore. Our information on caring for scars after breast cancer surgery and after surgery may be help.
