Hello, I had my WLE a month ago. I have two parallel cords running beneath my breast down over ribs. Seems to be mondor’s from my limited research. Has anyone else encountered this? Has only really crept up over last 7-10 days.
Thanks Carolyn x

Hi
Yes I had it. BCN didn’t know what it was, but radiologist checked it out, I got it in my unaffected breast, but it is more usual where surgery has taken place. Mine felt huge, but probably wasn’t. It took nearly 3 months for mine o go away. It did though, all by itself. hope it hasn’t freaked you out too much.
Dx
Thank you Midge!
No you haven’t lol! Very helpful, just couldn’t work out what was going on. If i bend backwards they pull really tight with two slight grooves on the breast and are tender over the ribs. I’m hoping that is the cause of my rib pain and not something more sinister.
Think I’ll follow your lead though, got RADS planning Tues so will flag it up then.
Thanks again x
I had the same after my 3rd op and mx.
It felt like strong guy ropes across my ‘breast’ area!
I thought they would SNAP if I stretched!!!
Does this sound familiar?
I did become rather overprotective and wimpish about mine and didn’t persevere with my exercises…
Consequently they lasted longer than necessary so really keep to your exercise routine.
I was given physio and had deep massage given to my mx site which didn’t really feel as if it was improving the situation but it did clear eventually…3/4 months I think!
Horrid cording as it does make you panic terribly but I think it definitely eases with massage and exercise.
I was taught how to massage myself. Weird eh?
I had to be really tough with myself because of where it was!
Thought my innards would snap and break???
Fear is a terrible thing!
My GP had never heard of it so go straight to your specialist.
Fellow sufferers here were a great support, as always!!!
Hope it eases with time.
Good luck,
Welsh girl
Hello Welsh girl,
ooh interesting. Thing is I am almost 5 weeks post op and had stopped my exercises because I had full range of movement/ pain free so was told only 3/4 weeks necessary…but it has started since i stopped them.
I know what you mean about feeling they will snap. Mine are vertical down my boobs then continue a few ribs below and when I bend backwards they divide my boob into ridges!
I just rang my GP today to get appt for Tamoxifen repeat and sick note and it is a three week wait but will follow it up with her (try for a cancellation).
I really appreciate your advice. Sounds like something out of LOTR doesn’t it?
Thank you both very much. xx
i had this too… i had cording in my right arm after first bc and then mondors in left breast after second one… prof said he thinks some people are just prone to it… no sign of any cording at the mo after my 3rd op but its only been two weeks and was probably about month after on the previous times.
i was really worried as it just looked like a dimple in my breast and was worried it was another tumour but gp thought it was mondors so my BS checked it out and agreed… took quite a few months to go back to normal and just rubbed brufen gel into it.

Thank you Lulu, always good to get some reassurance. x
Hi there, I just wondered if you had any responses to your post? I too have developed Mondor’s, and I would like to know what treatment has been recommended for it, and if it was effective? I have been in terrible pain with mine for 7 months now Thanks, Sheena x
