Money money money!!!

Hi I was wondering if there are any benefits that you can claim if your off sick? My sick pay runs out in a few weeks and am starting to worry a little bit as im not going to be able to pay my bills on the government sick pay! My macmilan nurse said that i may be able to claim the disability allowance has anybody come accross this?

I don’t know the answer to this one but on MoneySavingExpert.com (Martin Lewis’ website) there are forums and one is for ‘Benefits and Tax Credits’. If you put your question on there you are sure to get a good response as some of the people work in Benefits offices and have been really helpful in the past when I have asked questions on behalf of my parents.

It is a really useful website for anything money-saving too.

Hi Mairead1

I was able to claim disability living allowance during my time off work. It amounted to about £73 a week. When I encountered problems with bills I just rang the companies and explained the situation. Have to be honest, I’m still playing catch up but am starting to see the horizon

Hi,
Go on www.entitledto.com
Its a fab site and will tell you everything including amounts you could be entitled to
best wishes

Hi Mariead1

Here is the link to BCC fact sheet on benefits. breastcancercare.org.uk//docs/breast_cancer_and_benefits__jan_08_0.pdf

It has lots of information on benefit entitlement. I hope you find it helpful.

Kind regards
