Thanks StellaG, some great tips! I will get the OH to buy the “sausage” cushion" (I love that description!) and I think I might nip into town tomorrow to buy a couple of the support vests. Shopping therapy = always good! :-)I’m also going to organise loading up my walkman with some relaxation tracks as well as some of my fave radio 4 comedies when I need cheering up. I’ve just treated myself to an Amazon Kindle so that I can choose from lots of books to read and not need to hold anything awkward if I am lying down (I’m a book addict!).

One of my mates said ‘oh pink pjs, bit of a cliche’ but then we had a giggle because they really are ‘me.’

I understand completely about wanting to document your progress. I can see how looking at photos from earlier can really help show how much progress has been made. In a previous lifetime I used to be a film and TV make up artist and I took photos of any injuries I had myself just case I wanted a reference for recreating something similar - my family and friends just couldn’t get their collective heads around that!

Good tip about the sausage cushion… I am planning on a quick Tesco’s trip on Wednesday between my pre-op and going back to work (well, who’s to know? lol), because the one thing I forgot on my Saturday shopping trip was new KNICKERS!!! I don’t care if they won’t be admired by the surgeon (sure she’s prob. got nicer knickers anyhow), but I think I deserve spanking new undies!!! So, with a bit of luck I can get a sausage cushion too. I’ve still got the big v shape one I had when I was breastfeeding, and a great long body length microbead one, but I think they might be a tad on the large side to cart into hospital for a one night stay!!! I’ll get the covers on them washed tomorrow though, so I’ve got great snuggly cushions on the sofa when I get home!

Nymeria - did you manage to get any of the camisole/vest/bra top things? I tried mine on, and was really pleased with them - enough support for my one ‘good’ boob (big bonus of losing the ‘bad’ boob, it was always a little too big for those vests… ‘good’ boob is just fine!!!).

You’ve reminded me to dig out my mp3 player, too… not even sure where it is, but I’d rather listen to that than to all the others snoring on the ward. Which also reminds me, I’m paranoid about snoring myself, esp. if I lie on my back (which might just happen in hospital!). Can you still get those ‘breathe right’ nasal strips they used to advertise, I wonder? I last bought some before a flight out to Oz, so I didn’t keep everyone on the plane awake!!

Maybe the chemist in Tesco’s will do them…

(I think I’m going to need a bigger bag…)

Nymeria - I found your blog and it’s wonderful. Very much more concise and to the point than mine… (link above, if I did it right. If it takes you to someone with a strange sexual fetish, that’s not my blog). I’m going to practise condensing my posts - but if you’re bored in hospital and want to read some utter drivel… feel free to drop on by!!!

Good luck when you go in tomorrow, hope you get a nice peaceful afternoon and try to get a good night’s sleep, in your new pink pjs
