Hi all hope you are doing well? I have my date for more surgery next Thursday some of you may remember I had a mastectomy with LD reconstruction the implant was damaged with the radiotherapy so at last it is being changed, I am also having an implant put in the other breast so I can be a bit bigger. Just like first time round I am scared really worried about everything. I have been told I wont be in a must pain as last time but I am worried I will be I was in so much pain first time round I can not cope with that again.
In a way I am looking to getting it over and done with I can finally have the port removed which gives me pian every day and I am looking foward to having new boobs. once the op is over maybe then I can finally start to get on with my life beyond bc.

Hi Clairemm,
Just read your post- I’m currently on number 13 out of 28 rads and have the same implant you have- can you tell me how exactly the rads damaged it so I know what to look out for and how far through you were when changes started to happen?
Also- how come the port gives you pain? mine sticks out and I can feel it-have been told this is because of very slim build-is that the same for you?
Sorry for all the questions and Good Luck with your surgery next week

Hi Katy the raio just made the implant go very hard and lumpy I have a few lumps that are really pushing through the skin they call it creases in the implant, I am not to sure when I started to notice I quess it was just slowley happening thoughout the radio. My port gives me pain as like you I am slim and my surgeon told me it has moved so it is always pushing againt the skin it is just really uncomfortable and I cant wait to have it removed.
Not all implants get damaged I had my radio thoughout summer so it was hot and I was told to cover up (not wear low cut tops) but I did as that is all I wear and so the skin around where the crease (lump) is now is where it was exposed to sun and it got very red sore and burnt.
Good luck with the radio x x x
