I was due to get my biopsy results today - when i called up to speak to the doctor at the agreed time i was told my results had only just come in so they would call me back. About 10mins later they called me to say the doctor had reviewed my results but they needed to be discussed at the team review meeting tomorrow so they will call me tomorrow. She did say it was normal to discuss results - but surely if everything was normal they could just tell me and what would they need to discuss???
I’m now feeling really worried…
that is not fair. They cannot move the goal posts like that. The meeting is to discusss the next plan of action, perhaps its as simple as your results were inconclusive and they have to decide how best to firm them up, but they have the results conclusive or inconclusive now.
I would ring them back and say it was agreed that you would get the results over the phone, and althugh you know they cannot forcast what the meeting will decide about the next step, you want to know what those results are

I hope you hear back soon & get to see them so you can be put in the picture, I know they have to discuss each case in a meeting before they see you but seems they’ve made a blunder the meeting is meant to be held before your appointment, sounds to me like they have got behind your BCN should have just told you this instead of adding anything else that may cause you any more stress.

I don’t know about your hospital but ours & many others would never give any info from path reports over the phone they need to see you face to face so that you can talk over next stage regardless good or bad even if its good news they want to tell you in person ive not heard of this being done over the phone ?
I was quite suprised they were doing it over the phone as when i went through this before it was all done face to face. I took it as a good sign that they were fairly sure it was nothing bad!
I am further down the line than you but one thing I have learnt is to always double check result appointments. We have been given dates and actually got to the hospital and told they are not ready. Now i ring the bcn the day before and like your hospital, they have a group professional meeting on a Wednesday morning where they discuss as a team, and so I know there may be some answers on a Wednesday. Good news! Lump is just a funny cyst that wouldn’t drain all biopsies are clear so unless it grows nothing else need be dOne. I’m sO relieved! Thankyou all so much for your kind words and support you have been wonderful.

Hi,
I too am waiting and my clinic follows the same procedure. They won’t release results until after this weekly meeting of doctors even if they know the results beforehand. So it sounds like procedures to me but is very unfair they didn’t give you the right information regarding this.
Yes my clinic also plans to give results over the phone which seems to be common practice. The waiting is hard. Hold on in there and I hope it turns out okay for you in the end.
