Moving Forward course

Hi everyone,

I have just finished the Moving Forward course and I want to recommend it to everyone.

I was diagnosed last year and had a lumpectomy, radiotherapy and am on tamoxifen for the next 5 years.

I have recovered well from surgery and radiotherapy any my side effects from tamoxifen are tolerable. I have gone back to work, first on a phased return and now full time. I have started exercising again and socialising.

I have realised that the nagging flat feeling at the end of the day is my body and mind asking me to slow down and just have more rest and relaxation time.

Talking to others on the course has made me realise that this is all normal.

I feel that I am in a more positive frame of mind now.

I hope that others are able to attend Moving Forward courses as well.

Take care everyone x

Thank you, Katie. I’ve been thinking about trying the course myself, and that really helps. Just have to figure out the best dates now!

Thanks Katie_S - that’s good to know you found it helpful.

I’m in a similar place to you, had therapeutic mammoplasty in Nov, radiotherapy in Feb and now on anastrazole for 5 years.

Gradually building up my exercise routine again and beginning to socialise more. I think the latter was harder. I did some work (from home) during treatment but felt quite vulnerable socialising at the time, especially when faced with insensitive remarks, like the guy who asked me loudly at a dinner party 2 weeks post op, ‘so did you have a mastectomy or lumpectomy?’ I was not ready for that one!

It really does take time. Despite the above, my wounds are clearly still healing and will take a few more months to finally settle.

I’m looking forward to doing the course soon and hope it will help too with finding my ‘new normal’.

All the very best going forward.
