MRI on tummy before Diep

Hi,

I’ve been told I’ll need an MRI on my tummy to check blood vessels before DIEP recon. To check there is a large vessel they can use. Friend who has just had DIEP didn’t get this MRI?
My main reason for posting is I’m hoping to hear from someone who has had this MRI on tummy to find out how far in they gone you are?
I had one on my breasts as I have lobular, and I really struggled to get through it. I’m thinking this could be worse as face up and perhaps further in?

Yes,I had one…I can not understand how a surgeon can operated when they haven’t seen your vessels.Also had Doppler screening all over my tummy the night before.?

Hi 

Yes I had a CT before to locate the DIEPs and a doppler  the morning of the op. Afterwards the PS complemented me on my chest blood vessels but said the DIEPs were not so brilliant… far too much info for me but the outcome is very good!

Are you right in the MRI machine for the tummy one? I’m really not sure I’ll manage it:(

I’m sure mine was a CT and didn’t go right in. I had some sort of dye injection. I hate MRI but kept my eyes shut and did slow breathing and it wasn’t too bad ( and I’m claustrophobic  and a bit of a wimp). Hope you are OK,  the staff are used to calming people down, I’m sure you will be looked after. Good luck!

Yeah, I got the  metalic taste, and was warned I might feel I’d wee-ed…but it just felt like a rush of blood to the middle bits… nearest thing to sex in oooooh gawd knows how long. So let’s not think this cancer business is all bleak, girls.
