MRI v Mammography

Hi D

I wrote to the Health Secretary on this - I got a reply. NICE state that MRI should be offer to BRCA1/BRCA2/High Risk at various ages.

The UK Government stated in a report that they would rollout a programme of MRI breast screening to women aged 47+. What good is that? I am 35 and 3 weeks from preventative surgery with mammograms since 27 - I have worried a lot but no matter how hard I fight, I cannot get MRI. I am even willing to travel.

I am attending a UK Genetic Counsellors meeting on 26th March to do a presentation about me, as a patient, the system, my experience and about my site BRCA Umbrella (social and support network for BRCA+ and high risk people).

I have an opportunity to raise this issue again at the frontline, the people who deliver this life altering news.

So, anyone got anything they want to contribute?

I want MRI - maybe we should protest en masse??
